Your Favorite Food Delivery Options in Decatur/Atlanta

I’ve found that I really miss all the great recommendations we used to get from these “Your Favorite” posts.

I admit that I don’t have a great reason for not continuing them, so let’s start them back up!  One a week at least, right??  Feel free to send me ideas too at [email protected]  I’m all ears, uh…eyes?  Yikes.

Anyway, here’s a conversation to get us back on the train.  What’s your favorite food to have delivered in Atlanta/Decatur?  And if the conversation veers off into a discussion on the merits of UberEats, I’m good with that too!

  1. There is a new service http://www.realmealdelivery.com which delivers freshly prepared dinner entrees, sides and desserts. The prices are quite reasonable and include delivery and they direct no tipping. Their selections, especially some entrees, are thing that one typically wouldn’t make at home. You order online and specify a delivery time window. Not fast food prices, but certainly cheaper than comparable things at a restaurant and easier also. Our experience with them has been good and other reviews speak highly also.

    1. We just signed up & had our first Real Meal delivery. On time delivery, tasted great, and reasonably priced too, based on the portion sizes (which we thought were definitely ample). For anyone signing up for the first time, you can use this referral URL to get 50% off your first delivery. http://i.refs.cc/DLbbzW9L (which makes it a really good deal!).

  2. We like Postmates, an online delivery service, for delivery from places in other parts of town. Between delivery fees and driver tips, it can get pricey, but we’ve had luck finding online coupons as well as ordering from restaurants that are on their “bargain” list that only charge $4.99 for delivery. Every few weeks, I get a craving for Panbury Pies, and Postmates usually delivers within the hour.

  3. Top Spice, Med. Grille, Las Brassas, Burger Win (Chinese – EAV but they will delivery to much of Decatur) – and Zifty or Grub Hub for Figo, Harry and Sons or Mercantile!

  4. Ok so has anyone else tried UberEats? I’ve done it once and had a delicious burrito that was lukewarm. The other time i tried, what we wanted was too in demand, so we missed out.

It’s definitely a concept with potential, but I wonder about the whole “keeping things warm” issue.

    1. I’ve tried twice (including this week’s lasagna from No. 246). Both have been lukewarm. A friend’s salad was a little better but had too much dressing.

  5. We don’t do delivery but we do do take out. That may be the next thread. If so, I will confess early to making Community Q my standby Friday night go to.

  6. This isn’t really in the spirit of the original post but I can’t resist. I work near the Korean taco place on Clairemont, downtown. If I stop in to order, Steve, the owner, takes my money and sends me back to work. In a few minutes he shows up with my meal. At my desk. That’s pretty great.

  7. i always get Davinci’s pizza delivered–shows up in about 30 mins. Their buffalo chicken pizza is tops. Also their wings. I live my life covered in buffalo sauce.

    1. Are you married?

[To clarify, I am already happily married myself. And even if I wasn’t, I would never marry someone based solely on their love of buffalo sauce. But, you know, maybe just for future reference should circumstances change…]

    2. +1. Family has ordered a lot of takeout there. Pizza is good (we still prefer Fellinis). Calzones are great, pasta dishes, hot sandwiches, and wings are all stuff we’ve ordered repeatedly.

We live walking distance, so yes, takeout for us.

Despite ordering there 1-2 times a month for years, I have tired of the crappy service/wait and inconsistent/wrong-orders from T.Mac takeout. I’ll just have Davinci’s wings.
