Little Shop of Stories is Expanding!

Little Shop

Our good friends at Little Shop of Stories tell us that they’re expanding into the recently shuttered Vivid Boutique space next door in the coming months.

Co-owner Dave Shallenberger says the LSOS team is…

very excited to be able to grow and do even more of what we love. We hope to become a great community bookstore and will have a lot more space in our effort to achieve that goal. We love Decatur!!!

No one asked for my opinion, but this is a great move that makes total sense and will obviously help take Little Shop to an even greater level of awesome.

  1. Wow, this is great news! I am hoping that LSOS can offer more adult books now that there is no competition to honor, at least within the heart of the city. Maybe they can put out a sign in this space like Big Shpp of Stories?

Brainstorming other ideas–some sort of internet cafe or workspace.

    1. My exact reaction. LSoS is already one of the pillars of Decatur, and has been for several years. Own it!

Anyway, best news I’ve read all day.

  2. Makes me happy for so many reasons:
    – More books is more happiness
    – Means that LSOS is doing well; my heart can’t take losing another bookstore
    – Now two of my favorite activities are contiguous–buying coffee and buying books
    – Otherwise this would have probably become a Fro/Yo, olive oil, cigar, cellular phone, smoothie, or sub shop and I just don’t need any more of those

  3. Even better, we aren’t losing Vivid- supposedly they are going to move down to the shops by Café Lily.
Looking forward to the expanded Little Shop of Stories!

  4. This is really nice to hear. I love to hear about a bookstore doing well. I’d love it if they put a lot more into their grownup section, but even if they don’t it’s great that this place is doing well.

  5. Great to hear! Glad to hear about Vivid staying close. Gift shops are becoming a rare breed.

  6. This…is…awesome. Now, for my unsolicited advice of the day. LSOS team, how amazing would it be if you built a kid-only entrance from one room to another, but disguised it as either Narnia’s wardrobe of Potter’s platform 9 3/4. Incredibly awesome!

  7. Now they just need to connect the Starbucks to LSOS via a service window and create a simple play room for kids to play. Mamas in Decatur would rejoice! Possibly even have a sign-up sheet for times to play to prevent over-crowding because a coffee shop/indoor play area/bookstore would become quite popular!

    1. The possibility of that almost makes me want to adopt some little ones….if only there was a way to do it without incurring college expenses.

        1. After giggling at this, it made me remember the whole homework in kindergarten thing and I changed my mind. I don’t think I could take “sight word” drills and math by “arrays” again.
