UPDATE from Decatur Police:
The gas leak scene in the 300 block of Lamont Drive has been cleared. The roadway is open and surrounding residents have been allowed to return to their homes.

Decatur Police are currently on scene of a gas leak in the 300 block of Lamont Drive. The roadway has been blocked at Lamont Drive and Vidal Boulevard near Scott Boulevard for vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Emergency personnel are evacuating residents around the affected area as a precaution.
Pretty sure it’s due to construction at a teardown/megahouse site.
All good according to the fire department just now. The teardown/new construction is just beyond our backyard so I called to make sure it was safe to let the dogs out. Apparently the leak has been stopped and they’re working on repairing the line now. If this keeps them from working a few days with that bang, bang, banging all day, awesome!
