Police Alert: Armed Robbery Reported at West Pharr Road Home
Decatur Metro | January 10, 2016 | 8:45 amFrom Lt. Jennifer Ross…
On Saturday, January 9, 2016 at approximately 10:05 pm, Decatur Police responded to a report of gunshots in the 100 block of West Pharr Road. Officers arrived and located the victim of an armed robbery who reported he exited his relative’s house and encountered suspect #1 standing on the porch pointing a semi-automatic handgun and demanding his keys. The victim was slow to respond and suspect #1 fired once into the air. The victim threw his keys and suspect #2 appeared and took the keys. The victim initially stepped back into the house and observed the suspects enter and attempt to start his vehicle but they were unsuccessful due to a secondary anti-theft mechanism. The suspects fled and the victim exited the house and ran into the yard. Suspect #1 turned around and fired one shot toward the victim. The shot missed the victim and struck the house. The suspects fled south on Daniel Avenue on foot. The suspects were described as follows:
Suspect #1: Black male, approximately 30-years-old, approximately 6’00, medium build, medium complexion, wearing dark clothing and a dark skull cap.
Suspect #2: Black male, mid-late 20’s, shorter and stockier build than suspect #1, dark complexion, wearing dark clothing and a dark skull cap.
Guess we’re officially jaded. Shots fired at a resident of Oakhurst, a bullet strikes the house and nobody has a word to say about it. I wonder if we would have more to say if he had shot a tree.
I have wondered about this too. This incident occurred almost within the time range that our teens have been allowed to walk around City of Decatur as long as they had a buddy. Might need to revise that back a few hours. Bullets have a way of hitting both intended and unintended targets.
