City Schools of Decatur closed Decatur High School around lunchtime today due to “plumbing issues” and will remain closed through tomorrow, the final day of classes prior to winter break.  CSD sent out this note a short time ago…

Due to continued plumbing issues at Decatur High School, school is cancelled for Decatur High School students tomorrow, December 18, 2015. Decatur High School staff will report for work at their regular time.
The Frasier Center is on a different sewer line will be open normal operating hours. All other CSD schools will be open and operating as usual.
If students left anything at DHS that they need for the holiday break, they may come to the attendance office between 10:00 am -11:30 am.
When we return from the holiday break, staff will work with students to make-up any missed exams.

  1. Somewhat concerned that the only notice I have of this is via DM and CSD Facebook page. I hope I get an email or a robo call soon or I will be disappointed in CSD ability to communicate effectively.

    1. I received calls and emails very promptly, so there may be an issue with your contact info or an isolated glitch.

  2. Hmmm . . . both the high school and the Decatur/DeKalb YMCA are closed Thursday and Friday due to “plumbing issues”. Anyone else smell a conspiracy?

    1. I had the exact same thought. Apparently a similar problem occurred at Winona Park recently. What’s up DeKalb Co. ??

    2. My son smelled something while wading through the band room to move/salvage equipment yesterday morning. Not a conspiracy…

      1. The county utility infrastructure is not exactly spanking new. Even though the high school is relatively new (as new as 50 years old can be), that is an old area of town and some of the pipes serving it are close to 100 years old.

    1. I heard construction related, too. My son said that needed pumps hadn’t been put into place. I have no idea if this is accurate.
