Porchfest Last Call: Musician Sign-Ups End Early Wednesday, Porches Soon After

Less than a month into registration, October’s grassroots, fully-crowdsourced Oakhurst Porchfest festival has surged beyond 100 porches and is now busting at the seams. So much so that registration must soon come to a close. But you’re not out of luck just yet. Here’s how it will work:

Bands / Musicians

Performer sign-ups will close tomorrow, Wednesday, September 9, at 10am. Anyone not registered by that point will need to either sit in with another performer or hold off until next year. So don’t miss out. If you’ve got tunes to share, sign up now before it’s too late HERE.

Porch Hosts

Porch numbers are slightly behind performance numbers so we’ll need just a bit more time to catch them up and ensure a porch for every performance. To do so, we’ll keep porch sign-ups open until either Friday the 11th at 6pm OR the point at which our porch number matches our final performance number. Whichever comes first, so sign up now HERE.

Curious how cool your street is shaping up to be? Here’s the latest map of registered porches below. Your porch will only make it better. Sign up now!

  1. aw lawd, good thing folk from outside the neighborhood don’t know this is going on, otherwise we might be (massively) descended upon by OTDs

  2. The final count is in, folks. The Oakhurst Porchfest will feature 128 live performances, which means we need 15 more porches if we’re gonna stick to our one porch / one performance goal. Live in Oakhurst and still want to host? Click through and sign up today. Porch registration shuts down by Friday at 6pm. Thanks!

  3. I think we will have quite a few folks from outside Decatur in attendance – it’s like an mini “music midtown” that you can bike through.

The organizers might want to consider staging portable toilets around Oakhurst – as a band sponsor I am not planning to open my house for folks to use my bathroom (besides friends and family of course)

    1. Thanks, OD. You can rest assured that no Portajohn will be left unturned. Wait. No. Not that but you know what I mean. The fine folks of the Decatur Arts Alliance are having a subsection of Beerfest portables cleaned Sunday morning and deployed around the ‘hood. Specific location info will be released together with the schedule around the first of next month.

We’ll also be clear to all attendees in the event program: This is a public, outdoor event and porch hosts are not responsible for providing bathrooms. So don’t ask.
