Developer Plans 3-Story Restaurant to Replace Long-Vacant Scott Boulevard Car Dealership
Decatur Metro | August 24, 2015 | 2:23 pmI don’t know about you all, but every time we drive down Scott Boulevard towards Stone Mountain, we wonder what the future holds for this long-vacant Oldsmobile dealership (MAP).
Well it looks like there’s now a plan to build a three-story restaurant and bar on the site.
The Medlock Area Neighborhood Association posted a notice over the weekend about a community meeting next Monday on the site to discuss a request for a special land-use permit for the site to allow a three-story building on the site. Here’s a small sketch of the proposed restaurant being designed by Restaurants Consulting Group, who also designed Atlanta area restaurants including Eclipse di Luna, Lotus Lounge and Re’Past.
Only accessible from one direction. I can’t see this place doing well.
Interesting to see what looks like outdoor seating upstairs. I guess they’re trying to take advantage of the inviting ambiance along Scott Blvd. :-0
Seems like a Buckhead concept in a non-Buckhead market – heck it’s not even in Decatur.
Interesting, a fair amount of work was done this summer on the building and it had a US1 Discounts sign on it a couple of weeks ago.
Interesting. I have no idea what to expect from this. It’s an odd location on the surface, but if you look across the street at Patel Plaza it might make more sense. If the plan is to add the concentration of Indian businesses in the area, it could do very well.
I think it is a sign of things to come in that corridor over there. Those old houses on Scott will be gone, Ford dealership w revitalize and the junky little place next to this old Royal Olds dealership will be updated. Folks in those condo/apartments (i cant recall name of that place) + all the new residents from Phase I and Phase II of the Baptist Church will give plenty of local traffic to start with…
It will be very interesting to see what happens over there. I recently saw the lot full of Lightnin’ Production Rentals’ trucks, so in the meantime the space seems to have found good use as a movie location. Perhaps the US1 Discounts sign is a front or something created for a scene.
I’m not gonna evaluate the business concept, I feel a tear down and new construction has to be an improvement over the current building.
would have been a great spot for a trader joe’s.
