The Last Word on Highland is doing some interesting mixing—all Mediterranean/Middle Eastern influenced.
Leon’s are of course tough to beat, except that it takes SO LONG to obtain them.
I’ve hit the cocktail breaking point. I will no longer pay over $10 for a cocktail. That leads me to Whiskey Wednesday’s at Pinewood.
leads me to having a flask of Basil Hayden in my pocket and ordering water at the bar
Ditto. Combined with the fact that most local restaurants have a good craft beer selection, I rarely order cocktails.
Iberian Old Fashioned at Iberian Pig. Was amazing when they first opened, is still amazing now.
I believe you’ve got my favorite pictured – the Aviation. Pinewood and Leon’s make good ones, but I’ve gotten pretty adept myself.
246 has taken their cocktail game up a HUGE notch since they opened. Best Sazerac I’ve had anywhere.
I also have had nothing but amazing experiences with cocktails at H Harper Station.
Favorite cocktail in town, though, the eponymous Kimball House cocktail.
It’s an off-menu order now, but the Summertime Clothes (it’s similar to an Old Fashioned) at Paper Plane is my fave. Now that we’ve relocated, our new place for cocktails is The Lawrence on Juniper St. I forget the bartender’s name, but she is terrific. The Morning ’49 is tasty.
Best value, by far: The martinis at Blue Ribbon Grill.
Favorite: Velvet Goldmine Punchbowl at H. Harper Station.
I’m a beer drinker but the missus tells me the Old Fashioned at Revival is very good.
It is! So is their julep – I think it’s called the Georgia Peach.
A King’s Ransom at Going Coastal in Virginia-Highlands. Four Roses bourbon is the base. They also mix a very good French 75.
Pinewood. Pinewood. Pinewood. Carried to Ohio….it carries me somewhere for sure.
Field Marshal Roberts at Cakes and Ale. Best combo of Rye, bitters, and tamarind soda ever!
The Bitter Southerner at Kimball House. Heaven in a glass!
Love Pinewood…we even took their cocktail class which is a lot of fun. We broke into groups of four and then each of us took turns behind the bar mixing one of the cocktails being taught. First was a proper Daiquiri, second was a delishus Margarita, den we did one of those Aviashun drink thingees, and least but not first we drinked the old fashuned.
In the Park at Wrecking Bar. If you don’t like gin they’ll make it with vodka, but the first time I tried it I realized that I like gin after all.
