Family Dollar to Be Rebranded as Dollar Tree, Resident Reports
Decatur Metro | July 24, 2015 | 3:15 pmDollar Tree finally acquired Family Tree this past June and it was reported at the time that Dollar Tree was planning to rebrand some of the existing Family Dollar stores.
Then in early July, it was announced that 330 Family Dollar stores would be sold off nationwide, but the Oakhurst location wasn’t among them.
Well now, a long-time DM reader reports in that employees at the Oakhurst location are saying that their store will be one of five Georgia Family Dollar stores to soon be rebranded as a Dollar Tree.
With the branding change it sounds like product selection will likely transform as well, as the Dollar Tree CEO noted to investors recently that Dollar Tree stores are more targeted towards “suburban consumers” than Family Dollar.
Family Dollar has saved me on many evenings or early mornings for bread, milk and other key necessities.
Not the items you’ll find at Dollar Tree where every item is $1
I have never really been sure what to do in a Dollar Tree. Craft bloggers say to get all the weird stuff you need for crafting … things… there, but I just go in there and get confused. I guess I was not meant to craft.
Yeah, this is NOT good news in my opinion. I don’t go there often, but it’s been incredibly convenient at times. And, as Rob says, the sorts of things I’ve gotten there will not be sold at a stupid Dollar Tree.
Aaaaaand, maybe I’m wrong–it happens occasionally! Just checked out the Dollar Tree website. Their offerings are more extensive than I’d realized. I’d still rather keep the Family Dollar, but maybe it won’t be so bad.
How much do you want to bet that they still won’t carry Half ‘n Half? That place is utterly worthless.
I went there to buy water on Saturday and they didn’t have any. No water!? Can you believe it? Worthless store.
