Thanks DMG or who/whomever submitted the pic. Looking at this reminds me of, when cutting through my old hood Ponce de Leon Place and saying to my better half, “Man, that’s a lot of apartments!” That’s alotta people visiting the Christian Church and Baptist Church parks! That’s alotta people walking their dogs through downtown Decatur! And that’s a whole lotta cars moving through Ponce Place to Clairemont! Of course, it’s also a whole dang lotta voters who will eventually demand more and more services for those living downtown such as parks, speed bumps, stop signs, hmmmmm, what else?
But there is no need to panic and definitely no need to flee. Everything is all right. The City of Decatur is the envy of all the surrounding municipalities. Greater density is good right? There is a reason it’s called “Smart Growth” right? Everything will be alright, right?
On a completly different subject, I want to wish Miss Amanda Thompson, CofD planning director for the past many years, the best of luck on her new new job opportunity at the beach. I congratulate her on helping to make Decatur what it is today and will become during the next five years. Dance On!
The trees along Montgomery are all ready in the power lines. Are the lines being raised? Its a small cultivar Maple, but still….
Gotta hit that tree canopy count!
Several of the development street trees on Ponce de Leon Place have already turned brown and the evergreens (like those trees behind the dumpster in the picture above) look like they’re too close to the building to ever do very well. Even the street trees on West Ponce appear to be going unwatered. Strange.
