love!!!
There is something very sad about this.
I was thinking the same thing. Here, just outside their front door, the tiny denizens of this adorable little abode possess the gift of what, to them, is likely several years worth of fine wine. Yet despite this good fortune, they most certainly lack the necessary household tools to make any use of it. An allegory, if you will, for everyone in America who possesses emboldened will yet still finds themselves on the short end of the stick. #powertothelittlepeople
I don’t think that’s what he…uh…yeah…nevermind…
My gift to the new neighbors has been cast into a very dark light. One that, while I certainly did not intend, now, upon reflection, could easily be interpreted that way. I thought I was being polite and civilized but clearly I was blinded by my size privilege and have inadvertently sent a message that clearly shows my lack of empathy for those who live inside Tiny Doors. Worse, I do not stock any wine openers that would fit through that door. Perhaps someone on this thread knows someone in the Decatur Maker community?
Thank you all for pointing out the errors in my thinking.
And for a great laugh. Although perhaps was also mean on my part.
Chris, thanks for the nudge to mull this further. I’m now wondering what would happen if hugely oversized bottles were to randomly appear at doorways of homes in Decatur. Would it be viewed as a symbol that alcohol looms large over the household or would bottles be regarded as prizes to be proudly displayed?
Perhaps more importantly, is there a waiting list to get on for these deliveries? 😉
There’s usually a lot of these outside my door. But they are in a recycling container.
Do you sometimes wonder what the recycling collectors must think of you? I sure as heck do!
