Hot Dog Joint Opening In Old Las Brasas Space on East Howard
Decatur Metro | May 26, 2015 | 1:59 pmCreative Loafing is reporting that the owner of the Doggy Dogg hot dog carts – often seen at farmer’s markets around Atlanta – is opening a brick-and-mortar location in Decatur soon. And indeed a post on their Facebook page seems to prove it. Here are some of the CL-provided details…
Hammerl tells Creative Loafing that after touring Atlanta with his decked out wiener carts for the last four years, he is planning to open the first-ever stationary Doggy Dogg outpost in the former home of shuttered Peruvian chicken rotisserie Las Brasas (310 E. Howard Ave.) in Decatur. (Las Brasas, is in the process of relocating to 614 Church St. and hopes to open in July.) Meanwhile, Hammerl’s hot dog carts will continue to make their farmers market appearances.
CL says that the shop will have takeaway lunch six days a week and dinner every night. And there will be a late-night option on Fridays and Saturdays. According to CL, projected opening is next month.

Something we don’t have! Looking forward to trying them.
They read my mind! I was just saying to myself, “Self, what this town needs is a $5 hot dog!”
If only they charged an extra $1 for sauerkraut…oh wait, they do! They’d get shot for that in Jersey but in Decatur I bet it makes them rich.
Oh! My pyloric valve!
What are you doing? Are you fooling with that valve again? Nobody else got him a valve but you. I ain’t got no valve.
Ahhhh, so that’s whose cart was in the old Las Brasas parking lot this past weekend–my spousal unit will be thrilled to know a hot dog joint will be opening up in the PRD. Glad they’re coming into that space, and even more glad that the new Las Brasas will be bigger & better, too!
Is this the guy at the Decatur Farmer’s Market on most Saturday mornings? If so, this is great news. I have sampled his wares and they are choice…
Do they by chance have a veggie dog? I will happily pay $1 for kraut if I can place it on something besides an empty bun.
Yes! I had a veggie dog at the pre-pre-opening party there on Memorial Day. It was awesome!
They also have chicken dogs and lots of creative high quality homemade locally sourced toppings.
The beef dogs are from Spotted Trotter.
A welcome addition to our Decatur fare!
Do they have ordinary low-quality hot dogs? Unfortunately, I have one of those kids that likes the kind of el cheapo low-quality hot dogs that you boil in hot water or grill. Sigh.
