Golden Pheasant Found North of Decatur
Decatur Metro | May 22, 2015 | 9:30 amAnyone missing this little guy? Laurie writes in…
We live in North “postal” Decatur, on Concord Drive near N. Dekalb Mall, behind the horse farm. There has been a golden pheasant wandering around our yard and neighbors’ yard for 3 days now. It is obviously a pet because its wings are clipped and it doesn’t seem to fear people. I posted on the NextDoor app for our neighborhood but no one knows who the owner is. I’m sure by now this poor creature is frightened and hungry from not eating its normal feed.
If you can’t find the owners, I help with a animal rescue in Elijay called Build an Ark. They would be willing to take the bird. The number for them is 706-276-3313.
Remarkable bird, the Golden Pheasant… beautiful plumage.
Zlatý bažant, I’ve never been able to find it sold locally…
Need a home? I love birds I have been without for a few years
Pet birds do not know how to fend for themselves very well in the wild and may be starving or need fresh water. There is an avian vet in the area that usually will help with situations as such. For Pets Sake 404-248-8977. They may even be able to help with locating the owner since they are pretty much the only avian vet in the area.
Thank you. We haven’t seen the bird since yesterday morning but if I see it again I’ll be sure to call them. We have left water out for it.
It was in the shavings shed at the horse farm earlier this week. We haven’t seen it since, but I’m heading over there now, and I’ll look around.
