Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams announced this afternoon that all Atlanta locations will reopen Friday, May 22nd at 7pm.  All Jeni’s shops were temporarily closed in late April after the company found listeria in their ice cream pints.

The announcement states…

Jeni’s scoop shops in Ohio, Nashville, Chicago, Atlanta, Charleston, and Los Angeles will open their doors at 7 pm on Friday, May 22, with normal business hours resuming the following day.

…When the shops open, the dipping cabinets will feature Salty Caramel and other signature flavors, throwbacks such as Root Beer, and the new, limited edition ice cream, Sun-Popped Corn. Additional flavors will be added in the coming weeks as the kitchen returns to full production and the summer progresses.

  1. I was just telling my students that “listeria” like many strange-sounding words, is an example of an onomatopoeia because it is derived from the sound one makes while eating creamed milk.

    1. I have been hesitant to try this place but you totally just sold me on it. I have a guilty conscience when I eat anything other than Yogurt Tap for some reason. Plus the lines there on weekend nights are completely insane. Mexican chocolate, the 22nd suddeny seems so far

      1. if patronizing a chain makes you feel guilty, you can always go to Butter & Cream for your ice cream fix–it’s awesome…

        1. I’m under the impression that the guilt expressed was re: eating ice cream vs. frozen yoghurt…B&C is good, Jeni’s is better, and Morelli’s is the best. That is all.

        2. Perfection is Butter and Cream vanilla with hot fudge sauce. Simple and simply perfect.

  2. If you can’t wait until then, there’s always Aztec Chocolate at Butter & Cream. LOVE that place!
