How Much Will Decatur Water Slide Cost? and Answers To Other Slide-Related Questions

Wow, there’s a been a pretty overwhelming response to the Slide the City post from late last night!  So far, the server has done a good job of handling the traffic.  Let’s hope it stays that way!

There have already been some questions about the cost of admission for the giant, 1000-foot water side that will run down West Ponce on Saturday, July 25th, so we followed up with the city for more details.  Public Communications Officer Casie Yoder tells us that Slide the City will be similarly priced to the Decatur Beach Party.  That event was $8 in advance and $10 at the gate last year.

Additionally, she pointed to Slide the City’s FAQ for important minimum requirements and answers to other frequent questions about the slide.  Here are answers to some of the most pertinent ones…

Is there an age or height limit?

All who are over 46 inches tall and over 5 years old are invited to slide, but remember if you’re under 18 you’ll need to get a sign off from your legal guardians.

What happens if it rains?

Rain or shine we’re sliding, so come on out and enjoy the slide. I mean you’re going to get wet anyway.

What do you do to address water conservation?

Water conservation is also a priority at our events. We strive to have zero environmental impact on the community. The Slide was designed to have zero water loss, and it treats and recycles the water safely and efficiently throughout the day. When permitted, we donate the water back to the community. Methods of disposal include local reclamation centers, parks, golf courses and other places dependent upon local regulations.

Can I bring my pet?

For health and safety reasons, we cannot allow pets on the slide.

Can I use my GoPro or Selfie Stick on the Slide?

Yes! Bring them along and get some awesome footage and insta worthy photos!

    1. Same x2. But they can take some solace in watch me go down it. And again. And again…

  1. We are so going to do this!!! I had seen this in the past and the family was going to jump in the car to head to Ashville, NC and attend their event for this until I saw this today! this will be very cool and I am glad to see the city continue to mix it up with the events that they hold!! Sorry for the limited access for the littler kids but my 11 year old will think that this is the coolest thing of all time!

    1. It does sound awesome and getting a baby-sitter so that I can do it has crossed my mind!

  2. But isn’t the cost actually more in the $15-60 range? Or maybe that’s just the “rack rate” from the Slide the City organization…

    1. Yes, all those numbers are coming from other Slide in the City events or the Slide in the City website. The City of Decatur told me that the rate would be in line with the Beach Party rate.

Also, they tell me they are actively working on activities for the younger crowd who can’t ride the slide.

  3. “The Slide was designed to have zero water loss, and it treats and recycles the water safely and efficiently throughout the day.”

    That’s business-speak for “This is a thousand-foot long bidet.”

  4. I’m glad the price is lower – other items I read seemed to have the range at $30-$50 and that (especially times a few folks) felt pretty fancy….

  5. Boo!! We were so excited to do this with our 5 and 3 year old. Too bad. The age/height requirement will prevent lots of Decatur families from participating. They should consider a smaller version for younger kids.
