  1. I have no idea whether Eric had any say, but I have become disappointed with the Leon’s menu. Their sandwich choices have dwindled to just the burger and brisket sandwich (delicious for sure). They used to have many sandwich options (schnitzel, veggie, trout gyro). While there entrees are good, I wish they had more substantial casual eats on the menu.

-And I am fully aware that my above comment could not be more inconsequential in the face of the tragedies also listed on this post.

    1. + 1. For us, it’s usually just cocktails and peppadews there and on to someplace else for dinner.

    2. I too have noticed the decline in my liking of the Leon’s menu. It has slipped from the go-to work lunch spot to rarely getting mentioned by me in work or personal dining suggestions.

  2. Very sad about the fatal car crash. Maybe just a tragic coincidence, but it seems almost hard to believe that the teacher who was killed and the students in the other car were from the same school. Or am I reading that wrong?

    1. My heart goes out to Lakeside High School.

As a parent, I would be happy if high school proms went retro and returned to the high school gym with homemade decorations. You could still have prom dresses, tuxes, and wrist corsages but skip the driving before and after the event.

      1. The coincidence of this seems a bit more likely after learning the prom was at nearby Fernbank and not at Lakeside.

        1. Didn’t realize it was at Fernbank either. Very often proms are held in downtown or midtown hotels and involve before and after unofficial parties, limos, fast driving, maybe drunk driving. Fernbank seems like a nicer choice but still involved driving, darn it. For DHS, I vote for the gym so everyone can walk–all the better to show off one’s finery. But I doubt a vote would go my way.

  3. We have compassionate and community-minded kids–what do you say we put a vote to them? I chaperoned the fall dance which was held in the gym–everyone seemed to have a great time.

    1. The DHS students I’m acquainted with (and Renfroe siblings) use their heads and also are not averse to iconoclastic notions. I can absolutely see them getting behind the establishment of a new tradition of having the prom on campus and everyone walking to the event. Then again, I’m often wrong and almost never right when trying to predict what teenagers will think is legendary vs. lame.
