  1. From the DHS article on speed limits: “Some days, when a wreck on I-85 or I-285 causes Atlantans to take their Decatur route, students could walk to and from school quicker than they could drive.”

    Exactly! Now get crackin’! 🙂

  2. This looks like a highly irregular orientation for a major league park — the batter facing into the mid-day sun, a little West of due South. Right handed batters will have the sun shining directly in their faces from behind first base before it sets. The third base side seats are going to be unbearable in late afternoon.

I guess they plan on having only night games.

    1. The typical orientation for diamonds that you imply is the reason left-handed pitchers came to be known as southpaws; their left hand is on the south side when facing the plate.

  3. Which makes the posted rendering a morning game. Don’t worry though, the Braves are powered by Xfinity. The games will start between the hours of 3pm and 7pm, and if they don’t show up for a scheduled game, you can get half off your parking.

    1. I love the Comcast/Xfinity sponsorship prominently displayed in the rendering. As if this whole misbegotten development wasn’t maligned enough. I half expect the next rendering to show a swastika mowed into the outfield.

      1. I had the same general feeling about the Comcast deal, but your post took it to another level!

  4. So the writers lack imagination and their best argument is quoting someone who said “that’s dumb.” I will admit that I speed. It makes sense when I have to travel long distances. But going across the city of Decatur, it does nothing.
By slowing down we will make a person ability to react and come to a stop shorter and faster. With the number of distracted drivers on the roads it will make everyone a little safer and any time that a person might have saved by speeding in this city is negated by traffic lights or train crossings.
