Pure Barre Opening New Location in Decatur Along Church Street

Marla reports via Twitter that Pure Barre has signs in the window of the former Seen Gallery space – next to Yogurt Tap – along Church Street in downtown Decatur.  She also notes that they have a “Coming Soon” page for the new Decatur location up on their website.

What is Pure Barre?  Their Facebook page explains their studio thusly…

Pure Barre is the largest, most established barre franchise in North America, with more than 250 studios across the United States and more opening every month. Pure Barre is a total body workout that utilizes the ballet barre to perform small, isometric movements, which burn fat, sculpt muscles, and create long, lean physiques. In addition to barre classes, Pure Barre also offers DVDs, equipment, and chic athletic apparel.

This looks to be Pure Barre’s 13th franchise in the metro Atlanta area.

  1. I don’t want to be a hater, but anytime a business uses the phrase “the … that’s sweeping the nation,” I die a little inside.

    1. Me too. The curmudgeon in me thinks that I’ll never darken the doors of a place that uses “it’s what everyone else is doing” as a draw.

  2. I have to say that Pure Barre is the hardest workout I’ve ever experienced. Yeah, the Y has barre classes, but their instructors were at Pure Barre learning the method. And Pure Barre has eliminated my low back pain and sciatica. I love it and am glad they’ll be in Decatur.

    1. Thanks for the positive comment. I have to agree that the tag line is somewhat cheesy but Pure Barre was started by a professional dancer and actually has been legitimately tested.

  3. I suppose I am just a little bitter that a, “chic ” exercise place is occupying an old gallery space that was a real community asset.. No offense meant to those who enjoy the regimen, I’d even entertain joining up. It just seems somehow symbolic of what is happening/has happened to Decatur. i.e. High churn in the commercial lease spaces looking for top dollar. I guess it is all inevitable. We have become the Berkeley of the south.
