    1. Ha! I had the same thought, conjuring up a pleasing vision of Steinbeck’s staff addressing unruly children with a modest diary knock upside the head.

  1. From the Decaturish FAQ on annexation:

“As a practical matter, most legislators defer [to] the reps in the area affected by the legislation, but not always.”

I’m guessing this is the year of the exception.

  2. Wow it’s so surprising that everyone wants out to form cities or get out of unincorporated Dekalb county.
The county brought this mess upon themselves. See the patch.com headline: “FBI Asked to Investigate DeKalb Development Authority Chairman: Report”

    1. Many of those folks fail to miss an important point. They would still rely upon the county for many services, like fire protection, parks, water and sewer, criminal justice, etc., not to mention public schools.

    1. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but are you my dad? If you choose the “Reply” link within the comment you want to reply to, it will show your comment layered under that one 😉

[I’m only messing with you because you always respond to comments in a new reply and it’s sometimes not clear who you are replying to. This is not a personal attack, as I’m pretty sure that you are not, in fact, my father.]

        1. Perhaps a simple change of language above the comment submission. Instead of “Leave a Reply” when not using the reply link it could read “New Reply”. Currently, they look the same except for the name being included in the layered reply. Better yet would be the name of the person being replied to embedded in the comment.

      1. Not your dad (as far as I know). But I’m confused because I’m pretty sure I always use the reply link.
(though I guess I occasionally forget when replying to the last comment in a thread, which might have happened with my reply to Steve. If so, then my excuse is also dad-like–forgetfulness–rather than ignorance of the Internets. I’ll try to be more diligent about checking for the “Leave a Reply to…” above the comment box.)

        1. I could possibly be mistaken about you being the usual offender. I may also be a bit cranky this morning. So let this just be a lesson for everyone!
