          1. Allow me to channel Andisheh to fill the gap: “When is someone going to fix all the problems?”

  1. Anybody know the details of the retail building at the corner of College and Clifford, just west of the East Lake MARTA station? All the tenants have vacated and it’s being redeveloped.

    1. I think this is a case where appearances prove correct. I believe the owner is trying to breathe new life into the strip without redeveloping it — cleaning and fixing it up and working from there. I have not heard of any announced tenants lined up.

    2. Is the small engine (and firewood) guy gone. I should remember his name because he did good work on some things for me. Would like to know where he relocates. As for the strip, they have a great new neighbor with DishDive so it would be nice to see it all revived…especially since we’re about to move about a block away!

      1. all tenants are gone and all the spaces are being gutted. I think when you kick out the tenants, you can call it a redevelopment vs. just a renovation. the developer had their signs up for months before the tenants vacated and the work began, so I’d expect that they are in talks with replacement tenants. Was just hoping somebody here had the scoop!

  2. I was wondering about the Old House Fair. not heard anything about it for this year so thinking it is not happening?? anyone know?

    1. Per the Decatur Old House Fair’s Facebook page:

The Decatur Old House Fair will be taking a break in 2015 but we look forward to returning in 2016! Thank you for your interest and please stay tuned for updates.

    2. First the Tour of Homes is gone, now the Old House Fair. I guess when any house over 20 years old is considered a tear-down, we don’t need the OHF anymore ;>)

BTW, does anyone know what happened with the Tour of Homes?

      1. It’s possible that Decatur now has too much stuff going on. These kinds of events require a lot of volunteer power and I wonder if the pool is not big enough anymore.

  3. So that house on the northwest corner of East Lake and Hosea Williams, you know the one with the fancy metal H and W on the gate? What’s the story? Is that Hosea William’s house? And what’s that round pool looking thing in the front yard? It has wooden steps and a big metal ring. #thoughtswhilejogging

      1. No. That house was built on the site where the Williams family lived but by his foundation. I don’t have a picture of the old place but it didn’t look like that!

    1. Hmm . . . assumed that jogging today would have brought on thoughts of frostbite, more than anything.

    2. I seem to remember there was a big tree there until recently. Took the power lines down & we were without power for nearly a day a few months back.

  4. Another Art show at Trackside Tavern tomorrow night–come and check out some amazing local artists

  5. I encourage everybody to come to the Decatur High gym tomorrow at 4:00 to support our Lady Bulldog basketball team as they continue to stalk a state championship. It is quite an honor (and unusual) for a team to make it to the state tournament, let alone as a #1 seed which means HOME games. These girls have put their heart and soul into this and deserve a loud home court advantage. So … if you are free tomorrow at 4 c’mon out and enjoy some good, old fashioned high school sport!

    1. Thanks for posting this! My middle school daughter and her friend are now going to the game tomorrow and are excited to cheer on the Lady Bulldogs!

    1. For mainly kitchen/bath, HomeForge has a streamlined process. They don’t start until they have everything in hand, on a trailer, plus their crew does all of the work except electrical. Based in Decatur.

Our kitchen is in their gallery page. Last time it looked so good.
