On Monday February 9, 2015 the Decatur Police Department charged Mr. Zachary Thigpen in the hit and run accident involving a bicyclist on February 2, 2015. Mr. Zachary was charged with the following offenses:
HIT AND RUN/ LEAVING SCENE OF ACCIDENT 40-6-270
DUTY TO REPORT ACCIDENT 40-6-273
SAFE DISTANCE 40-6-56
The bicyclist was released from the hospital the day of the accident after being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Thigpen surrendered himself to Decatur Police, accompanied by his attorney after being identified as a suspect in the incident.
