Burglary Attempt Reported on Oldfield Road; Suspicious Activity Reported on 4th Ave

The first from Oldfield Road…

On 2-2-15 at approximately 12:44 pm, Decatur Police responded to the 1100 block of Oldfield Road in reference to a burglary.  A witness reported he heard several loud bangs and looked outside and saw three black males (one wearing all blue, one wearing all gray and one wearing all black) attempting to kick in his neighbor’s front and side doors.  The suspects did not make entry into the residence and fled northbound on Oldfield Road in a white mid-1990’s model crew cab Dodge Ram pick-up truck.

The second from 4th Avenue…

On 2-3-15 an officer met with a complainant regarding suspicious activity at her father’s residence in the 300 block of 4th Avenue that occurred on 2-2-15 at approximately 12:00 pm.  The resident stated an older white couple came to his house and said they worked “downtown” for an identity fraud department and needed to verify his social security number.  They had the resident’s social security number on a piece of paper and also had a camera/video camera and were taking pictures.  The resident verified his social security number and the couple left driving a white SUV. The male was described as approximately 6’0” and heavy-set.  The female was described as having brown hair and heavy-set.  Both appeared to be in their 50’s.
