Two Decatur Railroad Crossings To Close This Week For Maintenance

Decatur railroad track work

Both the McDonough and Candler Street train crossings in Decatur will be closed at different times this week for railroad tie maintenance.  Here’s more info from the City of Decatur’s website…

CSX will close the McDonough St. railroad crossing Mon., Feb. 2 and Tues., Feb. 3 for railroad tie maintenance. The Candler St. crossing will be closed Tues., Feb. 3 and Wed., Feb. 4. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians will be directed to detours at either the East Lake Drive or Commerce Drive underpasses.

  1. Will the tunnel at Church – Commerce/E. Howard (from Agnes Scott to the Stone Mountain Trail) be open next week?

  2. I am hoping that CSD has this info and will have moved the crossing guards to the crosswalk at the tunnel, but I have not heard anything.

    1. Don’t crossing guards work for the City, not CSD? Either way, I hope proper adjustments are made.
