Plans for Suburban Plaza
Special guests, the Selig team, will showcase the plans for Suburban Plaza, including offsite street improvements.Streetscape Improvements, etc
Learn about the traffic calming committee’s proposed streetscape improvements plan for Sycamore Drive and the top ends of Hillcrest Avenue and Ridgeland Avenue… to include intersection bulb-outs, a mid-block crosswalk, and median islands. Updates on the speed reduction efforts will also be provided.
Bamboo plantings? Yuck.
Bamboo plantings are the go-to solution for making something inherently not green seem kinda green.
I heard all the stores would feature live pandas as greeters. Bamboo now necessary.
Just to be clear, it’s a neighborhood association meeting (not community event.)

If I live in Great Lakes neighborhood, am I welcome to come to this meeting or is it closed to adjacent neighbors? I am very interested and concerned about what it going in with regards to walkability.

This is a DHNA meeting for Decatur Heights neighbors. Knowing there’s lots of interest in both presentations, we’ll be posting a recap. A neighbor also emailed she’ll be covering it for another blog.
I’d be glad to try to provide answers to your walkability concerns. Selig and the Cross-Neighborhoods Committee (CNC) have put a lot of effort into improving walkability in and around Suburban Plaza. It’s a key focus for the CNC as we meet with developers on projects proposed for our community.
