  1. Major water main break on S. Columbia, or so I heard. Think they’re dismissing some of the schools.

    1. The school email states “City of Decatur is experiencing low to no water pressure due”. How widespread is the problem?

  2. Just got the robocall from Oakhurst Elementary that they are dismissing the kids due to lack of adequate water service. No word on College Heights.

  3. DHS is releasing now and Renfroe soon (according to my kids in those schools). I think they are planning to go oldest > youngest via my “source”.

  4. Yeah, yeah yeah – schools closing. Got it.

Why is the whole world not talking about NCR moving to Midtown?

      1. not really — the office market in Atlanta’s urban submarkets (Buckhead & Midtown, especially) are more expensive in terms of rental rates, and there’s also little to no free parking like OTP office properties which boosts the costs even higher. NCR’s going to build a new building, which is a much bigger deal than your basic office relocation. They want to be in Midtown so they can attract those younger tech workers, while Mercedes Benz instead wanted a more traditional suburban campus. There are pros, cons, risks, and costs to each approach.

  5. I knew it was too good to be true when the schools didn’t close for coldness last week. It just isn’t winter in Metro Atlanta without school closings.

  6. Congratulations to Garrett! I helped him run the Chess Club at Clairemont a few years ago, and, as we’d say back in Brooklyn, he’s a good s**t. As a parent of two school-aged children, I’m happy that he’s got the job.

    1. Yes, Garrett is that indeed. And he doesn’t give up. He lost his first election but came back to win the next, serve as the newbie for awhile, then move up to Chair. All three of the newer Board members came in with a platform of listening to the community so please be sure to take them up on that offer. The good and bad news about Decatur is that a phone call or a letter can truly make a difference.
