An update from the Decatur Minute.  Note that the Candler Drive and McDonough Street intersection maintenance has been delayed.

CSX is expected to begin maintenance on the Atlanta Avenue railroad crossing the week of Jan. 19 for railroad tie maintenance. It will be closed for 2-3 days. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians will be directed to detours at either the East Lake Drive or Commerce Drive underpasses. Work on the Candler Drive and McDonough Street intersections has been delayed further and a start date for these have not been confirmed.

For more information, contact Project Civil Engineer Jennings Bell at 404-370-4104 or CSX Railroad at 877-835-5279.

    1. The railroad is concerned with maintaining the railroad. Their traffic is also 24/7 and they have to schedule maintenance over the whole system. If they chose this line in the summer, someone else would be affected this time of year. BTW, it’s at least as large of a disruption for them, because they have to squeeze the same amount of trains into half the time.
