Harbour House Pub Closing
Decatur Metro | December 15, 2014 | 10:50 amUPDATE: Apologies, the note below was posted yesterday so that was their last day.
From Harbour House Pub’s Facebook page yesterday…
We want to say thank you DECATUR! With lots of mixed emotions, today will be the last day Harbour House will be open. As much as we love the restaurant and our guests, new opportunities have come up and I have to make the right adjustments and sensible decisions to manage time and resources that are healthy for my family and me. If you’ve enjoyed Harbour and have some time please join us for a final day of joy and celebration. We will be open for brunch and dinner. I want to thank all our wonderful guests that have supported Harbour so generously over the past three and a half years! I sincerely appreciate you!!! Sean Keenan
Just to clarify, I’m pretty sure that YESTERDAY was the last day.
Sad to see them go.
D’oh. Sorry about that. Of course you’re right.
Its a tough business, we enjoyed our many trips there outdoor area was great for kids in the warmer months..
Man I wish El Tesoro would reopen there….
I wish Jake’s could come back! (The Decatur version with Maura and ?Steve?) Although we’re kind of set on ice cream right now.
We’ll miss them.
Sad. I’ll miss both the food and the music.
I am really sad…I loved their menu, their beer selections, and their copious outdoor seating. And they just added that side porch which was really nice. And I’ll miss meeting up with friends to play bocce.
When the weather was nice, my wife and I used to call the back bar “30-A North”. It just had that kinda vibe.
Another restaurant certificate from a silent auction goes into the shredder. Sigh.
Would have been a little more sympathetic if Sean had given a little more notice- so much for the gift certificates purchased and the money he’s already taken in….
I’ll always have fond memories of many, many bocce games and probably an equal number of pints. There was a terrific crew that worked there; I wish them all the best. As for the bocce gang, we will have to adapt.
If you have a gift certificate, I wonder if you could try using at Napoleons? Same owner right?
Thank you for the nice comments. I am happy to refund anyone that has an unused Gift Card or feel free to use it at Napoleons. http://www.napoleonsgrill.com
@Judgebrandeis Private message me and we can get it worked out.
Happy Holidays everyone!
This sucks. Loved the restaurant. Became my go to place.
So sorry to see it go.
I’m a big seafood fan but never really found their menu to be very interesting. I do think it’s great that they are honoring their gift cards at Napoleons though. because of that we will make a concerted effort to dine there very soon.
After they changed to a Pub, they became even less attractive to me. We need a valid seafood restaurant in Decatur.
This.
Once I stopped expecting it to be a Seafood place, and realized it was a welcome slice of 30A (to borrow Scott’s description) with bocce, an outdoor bar, and live music in the backyard, I appreciated it. It’s a fantastic setup and I hope whomever takes over the location next leaves the beachy outdoor vibe intact.
I have to think that the constant construction on all sides, especially the sewer work that shut their street down for months, contributed to the closing.
It wasn’t sewer work, it was storm drain work and Church St was never completely closed. And judging from the number of folks I saw there every time I noticed, lack of patronage didn’t seem to be a problem. They found somewhere to park.
I’m sure the construction didn’t help, but I agree with Steve that people still seemed to find them. They did an amazing job with the renovation of the space after Tesoro. I think this is a great building and yard, with lots of character. I gotta believe it can be a viable location for the right concept, especially when 200 neighbors move in next door. I look forward to seeing what’s next.
I always thought the interior space was off-putting. Too small of a bar. Dining tables in awkward spaces. One of the times I went there they had live music, but the musicians were right by the door.
Does Napoleans have the fish sandwich with the jalapeño dill sauce? Where can I get it?
Recipe?
