This coming weekend, Decatur High School student Duncan Trotter is putting on a hackathon called HackDecatur http://touchred.github.io/hackdecatur/
This will be a two day gathering of programmers, designers, techologists and creative problem solvers working on software solutions to help local businesses. It will be held at the Decatur Rec Center, July 5 and 6 from 9-3 both days.
Decatur Makers is helping him get the word out. Here’s how you can help.
- * If you are a software developer, designer, technologist, etc. and you are curious/interested, please register at http://touchred.github.io/hack
decatur/\ - * If you are a local business owner and have an idea of a problem you would like solved, reach out to [email protected]
- Traditionally, there are bounties put on the various problems that arise at a hackathon. If you suggest a problem, please include a bounty (cash, merch, whatever) that lets people know how important the problem is to you.
- * Trotter also needs donations of drinks, snacks, and even additional bounties/prizes to keep the hungry hackers working. He said it would be great if you could provide cash, gift cards, or other things to support the hackathon participants. Again, reach out to [email protected]
Please feel free to spread the word to any interested communities and thanks in advance for your support!
This sounds like another wonderful project by a DHS senior! Gosh, these kids are great!
Kind of hope that the next hackathon can involve hapless ordinary residents with IT issues. I’d donate a LOT for that kind of help!
