  1. Robocall says no power to WP, OAK, College Heights or FAVE. Schools are open though.

    1. Robocall says open and so does school website, but teachers are standing outside of College Heights telling parents that school will not be open today.

Anyone know for sure if open or closed?

        1. They cannot open the 0-3 program without power. The state would have a cow, dude.

        2. What does that even mean, Dawg? I’m pretty sure the rank and file staff had very little to absolutely zero input as to whether the school opened or not.

  2. From CSD Facebook page:

CRCT testing is canceled for today in all City Schools of Decatur. It will resume again tomorrow if power is restored at all schools.

College Heights Early Childhood Learning Center will not be able to open until electricity is restored. Georgia Power estimated that electricity should be restored at about 10:00. Parents at College Heights will receive another robocall when power is restored and students may enter the building. Staff will report as usual.

  3. Update on the Winnona/Avery – seems to be a chainsaw shortage. GA power is ready to work on poles/lines but they are waiting on people to come and move the tree… This is going to be a while.

The outage map also shows an additional large area affecting over a thousand (households?) between Candler, Memorial and 2nd.

  4. Another tree was down on Lansdowne, pulled power lines down enough to bend/almost snap the power pole on DeKalb Ave…

  5. This is unacceptable. Time for a moratorium to be issued placing a ban on acts of God destroying our canopy.

  6. @macarolina: Wow, they’re very lucky that pole didn’t snap completely. What a mess over there.

@Keith & The Walrus: thanks for the laugh!
