Two more Decatur restaurants have been added to Eater’s ever-changing list of Atlanta’s “Essential 38” restaurants.
None of the restaurants dropped from the list this month were located in Decatur, which means that the city has grown its presence from 4 to 6 spots among the 38 for the entire Atlanta metro area.
According to Eater, “essential” Decatur eateries include…
- Cakes & Ale
- Chai Pani
- Iberian Pig
- Kimball House
- Paper Plane
Victory Sandwich Shop
For the love of God, Kimball House, can you increase the font size on your drink menu? I don’t even wear eye glasses and I can’t read it. Love you guys SO much…but, c’mon, let go of the trendy small font and produce a functional menu, Puhleeeze?
Ditto. Or provide trendy magnifying glasses or reading glasses at all seats.
Good news: They’re increasing the font to 16 pt.
Bad news: All cocktails will now be $16 to compensate for the extra ink. [Except for the ones that are already $16. Those are now $20.]
You guys didn’t know that the monocle is now standard-issue among this crowd?

Much deserved. Count me a huge fan.
Love all of those. I’d add Leon’s too. Every time I venture outside Decatur to eat out, I end up wondering why I bothered.
@randy b – feel the same way.
I would add 246 to the list as well.
