Committee Makes K-3 Zoning Recommendations, Board Scheduled to Vote Tomorrow
Decatur Metro | December 9, 2013 | 10:50 amThe K-3 rezoning committee has made their final recommendations for the rezoning that must occur in the 2014-15 school year to accommodate Westchester Elementary School.
Above is option 7A (PDF), which is the committee’s top choice map and includes tweaks recommended by the zoning committee, according to a note on the CSD website as part of tomorrow night’s School Board agenda. The committee’s second choice is map 5 (PDF) followed by map 6 (PDF). (There’s also an amended Map 6a which you can view in PDF or after the jump, which came out of the December 4th worksession, though it doesn’t appear to be recommended.)
Additionally, the committee is recommending that “Westchester Elementary opens with all K-3 grade levels (Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, and Third Grade) for the start of the 2014-2015 school year. This recommendation was made based on the perspective that all K-3 students would attend their assigned school zone without grandfathering in students for the 2014-2015 school year.”
The School Board is scheduled to vote on the new zoning tomorrow night at it’s monthly 6:30p meeting at Westchester.
Oh crap. These maps just made me go blind.
The final vote has been tabled until a special session next week. A revised map, based on map 7a, will be posted as soon as possible. The goal of the revisions is to balance capacity between glenwood, Clairemont, and Westchester.
