Starting from a clean slate. Let’s just hope that during construction the staff was sequestered to the secret T.Mac lair for relentless customer service bootcamp!
It’s too bad that they finished after Atlanta’s professional sports seasons effectively ended on Monday night.
What?
No… I’m not bitter. I’m just an Atlanta sports fan. We’re used to having our pro teams fall short of expectations.
They’ll actually be ready to open this Saturday, but they wanted to wait until after UGA loses to Missouri, effectively ending Atlanta’s college sports seasons as well.
When I used to frequent the place (8+ years ago before getting graduating from the former Passport Club and getting burned out), that’s the only name I and other regulars ever used to refer to it. It made more sense than the actual name. Glad they’ve finally adopted it officially.
Pretty common, and I also hear Home Depot commonly referred to as HD just as McDonalds becomes MickyD’s and the Universal Joint is the U-Joint. The shortening of names is only slightly less common than blog post cynicism.
on the back of the Taco Mac menu it talks about how when they bought the original location, they only had enough money to change out the signage on the restaurant (already said “Taco Mac” from a shuttered, previous owner) or renovate the kitchen. They obviously chose the kitchen, and the name stuck as the business expanded.
I don’t think so! That’d be like a Starbucks without coffee! I’d venture to guess that rz is missing their wings since TMac has been closed for a few months. I look forward to the opening because then the construction noise will be over for the moment. (Plus, my girls love going there too.)
What about parking? Wish the shopping center across the street would boot TMac patrons who park there as my family attempts to frequent Mellow Mushroom and CVS…
Wow, that was fast. Looking forward to seeing the improvements.

I just assumed they would be down and out for the majority of the football season. Very impressive work guys. Cant wait to see the new place.
Walked by Monday night and it was all lit and full of staff. Looked nice inside. Maybe they are doing the training everyone has been asking for?
Fast renovation! and it looks great!

Not biting…
Neither is Ugh-uh’s defense
As soon as I hit “submit”, I knew you were going to say that (only I didn’t think you would limit it to the defense)
On the contrary…it definitely bites.
+1
Did they take “Taco” out of the name to avoid confusion over what type of restaurant it is?
T.Mac? really? Is H. Depot next? I’ve never heard anyone call it T.Mac, but I suppose if I hung out with a hipper crowd…..

Don’t forget Pubix.
It’s Pube-lix, J_T.

Hilarious!
Hope they renovated the staff as well as the building. They had evolved into the worst wait staff & host/hostess in all of the Atlanta area.
I always thought Taco Mac was a strange name anyway. Has anyone ever ordered a taco at Taco Mac? Are they even on the menu?

Though the name has a story behind it, they do have tacos on the menu. I’ve had the bean tacos a few times.
I like the fish tacos.
I miss the wings….. but mostly I’m hoping for improved acoustics!
They took the wings off the menu?! Heck yeah! I might actually venture back one day.

Darn. From a small-dog-walking perspective, it sure would be nice to live in a chicken-free society. Or maybe just a boneless-chicken-only one.
Also hoping for better acoustics.
Taco Mac appears to be trying to rebrand itself as “T.Mac” (note the intentional lack of space). Check out their Twitter feed …
