Decatur Metro | September 26, 2013 | 10:34 amJoe sends along this announcement…
- Community Meeting: For a safer North Decatur Road
- Sept. 26, 2013 7:00 PM
- North Decatur Presbyterian Church 611 Medlock Rd, Decatur, GA (at the corner of Medlock Rd. & N. Decatur)
You know how dangerous N. Decatur Rd. is, now is your chance to let the County and the City of Decatur know. The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition and Bike Emory will present the results of the Road Safety Audit that was conducted on N. Decatur Rd. from Church Street to Clifton Rd. to study and improve bicycle and pedestrian safety on N. Decatur.
Our DeKalb County Commissioner, Jeff Rader; County Traffic Engineering staff; City of Decatur Commissioner Fred Boykin; Decatur’s Director of Design, Environment and Construction; and PEDS will be present to answer questions.
Updates and ways to get involved will be provided on the CHCA website (http://clairmontheights.org) and the MANA website (www.medlockpark.org)
Why are City of Decatur officials listed to speak at a meeting that does not directly concern the City of Decatur? This is a Dekalb County issue.
Part of the dangerous stretch between Scott Blvd and Clairmont Rd falls in City of Decatur limits. While DeKalb County’s definitely been responsive on this since receiving the official requests from citizens for action, it’s not just their issue to fix, nor can they do it all on their own. It’s going to take all involved govt agencies and continued involvement from PEDS, the bikes advocacy groups, and the community to make it happen. And of course our wonderful local media– especially Decatur Metro since it’s here where the initiative was sparked!
I live very near this stretch of road but in the city. I use the area quite a bit. It impacts all nearby residents regardless if boundary.
Hate I’ll miss this tonight due to a prior engagement. Please keep us posted on the discussion/outcome.
