I’m guessing the new construction at Oakhurst will accommodate the students these trailers formerly housed, and wonder if the playground trailers will be taken away too, or if we’re still going to need them next year in spite of the main building’s expansion.
The trailers in the back are going and will be replaced by expanded teachers’ parking.
The trailers at Mead Rd park are staying (alas). Mary Mack announced that plan at the last community circle of the year.
I missed that announcement! Why are those trailers (er, cottages…) staying? I thought that the kindergarten classes that were in them the second half of this year were going into the new part of the building, along with the older kids who had been in the ones behind the school.
Winnona Park thought the same thing 3-4 years ago when that renovation was done. I think the trailers, or at least some of the trailers, have been there ever since. They’re ugly, but they don’t leave scars, they really don’t – at least not on the kids, just a few parents.
I look at that picture and the first thing I see is not the trailer. The first thing I see is Mrs. Mack, and I can say with absolute conviction that if I had a child and had the opportunity to send him or her to school in a tent where Mary Mack was the principal, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second. And that goes for CSD principals and teachers across the board.
+ Infinity for Mary Mack and OA teachers, staff, kitchen, custodial, everyone. Really, everyone, although she is one of the best grown-ups I know. WIsh we could bottle that and spread it across all of CSD!
Even though we never attended Oakhurst, somehow Ms. Mack has been well-known and appreciated by our family since Day Zero of entering CSD. That’s her wide scope of influence. She IS CSD, as far as I’m concerned, more than any other individual before and after, equalled only by the inimitable Ms. Kuebler of Westchester fame.
Are these trailers coming or going?
OK DM, now who is stirring the pot?!?!?
Yeah, I was a bit worried that this would be seen this way. But it was just an EOTS that I recently received. Hmm…maybe I should take it down.
Nah, leave it up. It makes Scott’s article even more timely and we need open, healthy discussion on this issue.
If it’s any consolation, the trailers are on their way out. We saw them last night turning right from Mead to College and boy was that a sight to see!
+1 DawgFan.

The playground trailers are scheduled to be removed.

That’s what CSD presented to the city. All trailers were scheduled to be removed once the addition was completed.

AMEN.
Amen is right! Mrs. Mack’s wonderful, infectious smile is the first thing that caught my attention. Bring on the tent.
You should have seen her disco-ing at the last community circle.
WHY IS SOMEONE TRYING TO KILL MS. MACK?????
Which one of them held on long enough to win the truck?
