The beautiful Victorian gravesite of Miss Emily Pittman in the City of Decatur cemetery was rededication on Mothers Day, May 12. Cathy Vogel, David Crenshaw, Victor Donham, Nancy Sill and others from the Friends of Decatur Cemetery organization have worked for years to restore the gravesite. With funds from the Decatur Beer Festival, and the expertise of master blacksmith Ray Bowen, the site is now restored to its original look.
A wider shot of the gravesite and some of the volunteers who restored it, after the jump…
Where is the rest of the article?
Huh?
You mentioned there’s a jump, but there doesn’t seem to be a link to jump to.
It was there earlier.
Assuming you’re on the front page, the jump takes you to the second photo.
Ah, gotchya. Like bobo, I was thinking there was more verbiage. But it does indeed say “a wider shot of the gravesite…”
Mystery now cleared up. Oh, and the restorers deserve congratulations for a job well done.
Nice to see my beer money going to good use.
It looks great.
Seventy five comments to seven! Oh, you youngsters. I guess the same thing happened during Miss Emily’s lifetime. Everyone was talking about the new so and so on the square, with all its high falutin’ products from France, New York, or some other foreign country. But Miss Emily, she had the final say and some of us are still braggin’ about her life so many years later.
Congratulations to the Friends of Decatur Cemetery. This small group of dedicated residents understand the true value of Decatur living. Good Job!
