I find this theme hysterical and timely. If we can get all childless young adults in Decatur, or about to move to Decatur, to watch these, we may have solved our enrollment problem in the long-term! Kindergarten enrollment should start declining in about 6 years!
I’m not sure that DeKalb Medical thought this marketing strategy all the way through……:)
I don’t need a movie for that. Whenever we start thinking about having a kid, we go to Twains at 6:30. Best birth control ever.
In related news, sales at nearby bars skyrocket as local husbands are simultaneously set free for the night by their movie-going wives.
I can see it now: W: “Where have you been?’ H: “the restroom.” W: “For 2 hours”?
Not just the husbands! My wife is a devoted mother, but she would make it through about five minutes of those movies before hitting Mac Magees for a small-batch bourbon. Well, except for possibly She’s Having a Baby, which has some nostalgic appeal and, as opposed to the other two choices, is actually watchable. I should also add that Dekalb Medical was awesome about prepping us for having our baby and helping us in the bewildering aftermath.
She’s Having A Baby has added benefit of having Downton Abbey character flashbacks…
What a woefully incompete list. Where is Child’s Play and the equally unforgettable Child’s Play II? Children of the Corn? Rosemary’s Baby? That classic tale of the expectant father, The Omen?
You forgot the first two Alien movies.
Khaleesi, mother of dragons…
June 3: Alien
June 10: Problem Child
June 17: Spring Breakers
June 21: Thirteen
Double Feature: The Bad Seed/Firestarter
All jokes aside, doesn’t anybody think this is kind of, um, crass? No “Moonrise Kingdom” or “Wreck-it Ralph” but sponsor-specific programming. I always had a good feeling about DeKalb Medical’s sponsorship of the series before, but not now. Maybe next year we can get Japanese whiskey maker Suntory to bring us “Lost in Translation.”
If I recall correctly some of the scenes from She’s Having a Baby, taking my kiddos to the square on Friday nights is going to become quite the learning experience for them.
I for one am very disappointed. The headline had me hoping it would be movies made by babies.
I thought it was going to be movies FOR babies and I thought that this baby boom had gone a little too far.
I did too!! haha…. I pictured a bunch of blankets, parents, strollers and babies… and Baby Einstein on the big screen. I had also decided that I was going to have to move.
