Recalling a similar snide remark to one of your MAK neighbors on a FFAF in May of 2011, perhaps it would be beneficial if you stopped by and we had a conversation about it. I’ll be happy explain to you how the tree was essentially dead and ready to fall. The arborist is still here. I’m sure that you can figure out where we are from the noise. The saws and chipper should be going for a bit longer.
I’ll also be happy to share some ways I won’t be spending or saving that $X,000 that we had to spend to get this taken care of.
The school board could assess a tree removal tax, since I am 99% sure, if I had access to the data, that I could demonstrate a strong correlation between tree removal in Decatur and increased school age kids who enroll in CSD.
it was very cool/more than a little frightening to see him climb so high…he was definitely the rock star of the operation which, in and of itself, was a well oiled machine…we also plan on replanting…
Shameless plug. Tree climbing is fun! And anyone can learn how to climb trees like that — not to chop them down, but just to climb them. Believe it or not, metro Atlanta is arguably the center-of-the-world for what is called recreational tree climbing.

Peter lives in Toco Hills and instructs locally. It is a blast! I’d love to see him or another tree climbing instructor work a deal with the city to use one of its parks for group events (there are a couple of ideal trees in Adair Park just outside the dog area). Kids love it.
I have a reason to suspect that this tree was removed without consulting the school board. How is this going to affect school enrollment?
Welcome to Oakhurst. Now get to choppin.

I don’t see a cherry-picker in sight. I would have liked seeing that person climb that tree.
