I don’t see the need for me to have garbage pickup twice a week, with recycling pickup on yet a third day. I was fine with once a week in Gwinnett, and I would be fine in Decatur, uh, I mean unincorporated DeKalb.
Taking on Decatur, Atlanta and the entire 678 area code sounds like a huge fight.
“I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.”
Judy Turner won’t hire a banker unless he or she has a 404 cell phone.
Game over, dude!
I can’t say I blame Judy. When I moved here 10 years ago, I insisted on a 404 number at the Sprint store.
My Grandmother had Jackson as the prefix. Her number started with Jackson 5.
Seemed pretty cool at the time.
Re area codes… jeez, talk about your first-world problems.
So…the proposed annexation would cost DeKalb $22 million but increase revenues for Decatur by $825k? Seems like their financial situation would be a little rosier if the County is that much better at collecting $$$.
It’s not just the annexation of those properties that are costing DeKalb, it’s b/c of Brookhaven and Dunwoody.
Perhaps I misread then. I understand that those areas will also impact the County’s revenues. I just understood the article to be comparing those two figures. Happy to stand corrected if I have misinterpreted.
Growing up here, I had the exchange “DRake 8” in my telephone number. When I returned to the area decades later, I must admit I was pleased when I got a 373 telephone number.
Among the oldtimers, there seems to a subtle snobbery about phone prefixes in Decatur. Anyone else notice that? I don’t totally get it but my hard-to-articulate impression is that 378 is one of the most prestigious prefixes, with 377, 373, 370, and 371 close behind. Everything else is just ok. 678 is for cell phones. 633 is postal, not City of, Decatur.
And I KNOW this is a first world problem.
I think DM should publish all the names and addresses with a map of those who don’t have a 378 (Drake 8) number.
