There’s no doubt that soft drink makers (including Coke) feel the pinch. What’s so amazing is that all other beverages remain constant except a greater intake of bottled water at the expense of soft drinks. I once heard a grocery executive talk about how 10 years ago at a meeting at Coke HQ he noticed that more people went for bottled water than soda. He said that’s how he knew what was going to happen with soda on the shelves in his stores.
Every morning just before breakfast
I don’t want no coffee or tea
Just me and good buddy Wiser
That’s all I ever need
‘Cause I drink alone, yeah
With nobody else
Yeah, you know when I drink alone
I prefer to be by myself

The Atlantic article is somewhat flawed – it doesn’t take into account non-packaged liquids like tap/filtered water. Indeed, I don’t believe tap/filtered water can be easily measured. However, the article makes the absurd claim that pre-packaged liquids represent 100% of what people consume.
Case in point – I drink more tap/filtered water than any other liquid, with home-made or work-breakroom-made coffee coming in 2nd, well ahead of pre-packaged, pre-measured liquids like milk and alcohol.
Yet, the article’s points about the decline of soda and rise of alcohol is interesting.
Very cool pic of the original design of DHS. I see that all the classroom space was suppose to be all on one level- not the way it turned out. I wonder what the building to the left of the classroom space was suppose to be. Future rapid transit station? What about the middle building in the rear off the main classroom space?
Does DHS have courtyards?
Yes, but mostly when my kids were there no one was allowed to use them. Or when they let students eat there, others would throw things at them. Beautification efforts were a challenge.
I’ve been in that building tons and never seen courtyards. Very weird. Courtyards that you can’t use are just dead space, right?
I have seen the students use them at lunch.

The pizza mural is even worse than the one on Oakhurst Market.
