It’s Literally Wednesday: Natasha Trethewey Moving to D.C.
Dave | January 2, 2013 | 11:20 amThe Washington Post reported yesterday that U.S. Poet Laureate, Emory professor, and Decaturite Natasha Trethewey will be taking up residence in Washington D.C. for part of her term.
“Being in there, in my office . . . might mean I’m more accessible to people who not only live in the District but also who travel to the District. I like the idea that people might even get to sit down and have a conversation about poetry with me. I like the idea of what I might learn from the public, about how they see the role of poetry in their own lives.”
How cool is that?
This Week
Susan Puckett, author of Eat Drink Delta, Tuesday, January 8th, 7pm at Manuel’s Tavern, sponsored by A Cappella Books, free.
Claire Bidwell Smith, author of The Rules of Inheritance, Tuesday, January 8th, 7:15pm at Decatur Library Auditorium, sponsored by Georgia Center for the Book, free.
Just so no one panics, rest assured the move is only for a few months.
Thanks Daren. I was panicking. I was starting to sing “Yesterday,” by the Beatles.
I said something wrong
Now I long
for yesterday.
