Fifth Avenue Bicycle Safety Training Volunteers Needed
Decatur Metro | September 17, 2012Decatur City Commissioner Fred Boykin sends along this call for volunteers from Decatur Active Living’s Cheryl Burnette…
Decatur Active Living and the Safe Routes to School Program will be doing Bicycle Safety Training for the 4th grade students at Fifth Avenue. We will be teaching on Thursday, Sept 20, Friday Sept. 21 and Monday-Wednesday, Sept 24-26. All teaching occurs on the Fifth Avenue School Playground.
We need volunteers! Volunteers have the choice of the following times each day:
- 7:45- 10am
- 9:45 – 11:45am
- 12:15 – 2:15pm
Please let me know which day(s) and time(s) you might be able to assist. You do not need to know how to ride a bicycle. We will be teaching them basic signals, and other various skills. We can train you on the job!
Please consider giving a few hours of your time to help with teaching the children how to ride their bicycles safely. It is loads of fun seeing how excited the children get.
This is a great opportunity for all Decatur bicyclists to ensure that our children learn the proper rules of the road. We especially need volunteers for the afternoon shift. Email me at cheryl.burnette at decaturga.com if you can assist.
