Tonight, Friday, September 7th, Decatur High School hosts SpiritFest as our varsity football team will have their first regular season home game where they battle against the Panthers of Therrell High School. Come to the Decatur High School before the game to enjoy SpiritFest and get pepped up for the game and help us cheer on our sports teams!! The band will be playing, the cheerleaders will be cheering and Spike will be on hand to make sure that everyone has a great time. There is lots of fun and excitement planned so come early. SpiritFest kicks off at 6:00 p.m. just outside the stadium entrance! Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Thanks Stu. I had to stop by DHS this morning and ran into Mr. Strickland, head custodian (and DHS graduate). He said that the DHS chorus will sing the national anthem and the ROTC collar guard will lead all the cadets out onto the field. I am told that the football team is ready to hit em’ hard and the DHS marching band is ready to rock so please come out and enjoy the opening day festivities for the 100 year celebration of Decatur High School.
Saw some runners in the road running with traffic this morning, remember to run/walk against traffic if you are in the street to be safe!
Thank you for posting this. I used to bike and not run, and I thought that this was an insane idea, but now that I mostly run, it makes sense.
I suggest that people who run with headphones/earbuds please configure them in such a way that they can hear the sound of a car’s engine, a bicycle bell, and a human voice.
I stopped running with earbuds/music years ago after reading about an incident where a large tree fell in a residential neighborhood and while removing the debris, they discovered the body of a jogger who was wearing earbuds. They determined that they probably contributed to her death in that she couldn’t hear the sound of the tree falling—and if she had, she may have been able to get out of the way in time. She literally never knew what hit her.
I know, I know – it has all the earmarks of a classic urban myth – but it was on a news site from the AP, so it seemed believable enough to make me lose the earbuds.
Ahh, that old philosophical question, “If a tree falls on a runner who wasn’t able to hear it…”
Concerts on the square start this week. Will they be on the bricks on the square, or have they been relocated? I can’t find any information on the city website. Thanks!
They’re on the MARTA plaza with a stage set up on the east end above Church St. Bring a blanket unless you want to set on the bricks.
What’s up with the DeKalb school board barring the public from meetings responding to allegations of mismanagement? Its accrediting agency has questions about its hiring and financial responsibilities, and DeKalb shuts the door? So much for transparency. For shame, for shame.
http://www.ajc.com/news/news/local/parents-stunned-as-dekalb-school-board-bars-public/nR4cw/
I agree with you 100 percent. Assuming that what they’re doing doesn’t violate the Open Meetings Law, it’s nonetheless hamhanded when the level of trust is as low as it is.
But for another point of view, read this post in the DeKalb School Watch Two blog:

I am soliciting ideas on how to advertise a local yard sale online, other than hacking the school eBlast system. I know better than to do it here. Thanks.
Craigslist?
Go right ahead and do it here.
there is a website specifically for advertising yard sales, I can’t remember what it’s called but I’ll bet you can find it. also recommend craigslist.
To the cyclist who passed me on Adair Street yesterday evening: The reason I slowed down was because the street was so narrow with all the parked cars and there was oncoming traffic. Your passing me 1) was not justified by the narrowness of the street and the oncoming traffic; 2) involved coming through my “blind” spot on the left so I didn’t see you until you darted ahead of me–if I had swerved left for any reason, I could have hit you inadvertently and ruined your life and mine; 3) was a terrible example to the children in my car; and 4) was the type of behavior that gives cycling a bad name. As someone who has cycled a lot at certain life stages, I believe that bicycles have as much right on the road as any other vehicles, even if they are skinny and human-powered. But they also have equal responsibilities. No motor vehicle would have attempted that crazy passing on the left and neither should have you.
+1 and Amen!
Thanks AHID. I had a somewhat similar experience yesterday trying to turn left from Norris Street onto Church. Church Street traffic heading north started to back up because someone wanted to turn left onto Willow. A driver singled me to enter Church. As I moved forward, a motorcyclist sped by, using the Church Street parking area to pass the traffic on the right side. Had I moved forward sooner, the driver would have hit my vehicle at a high rate of speed. Thankfully this did not happen.
The stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze me.
Let round 24 of bike vs. car begin. I’ll get the popcorn. BTW, you bikers are the worst, truly the worst. Except when I’m biking, then you maniac car drivers should all be locked up.
No motor vehicle would have attempted that crazy passing on the left…
I wouldn’t say that, as a mom-in-a-hurry attempted to overtake me this morning as I signaled to slow and stop at a four-way stop two blocks from my house. Intersections are the most dangerous places for bikes and cars, since intentions are not always clear. Mine were and she still nearly drove over me.
Back in town after a ten-day hiatus from commuting, I was quickly reminded how aggressive some drivers are.
Oh, and Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon National Parks are highly recommended for a cycling vacation.
My needle just spun off my jealousy meter.
Was she on her cell phone? After alcohol, cell phones are the most dangerous things to combine with driving.
I usually tilt in favor of cyclists on the road. But this guy really scared me. He was part of a large spread out group, probably recreational riders, and I guess he thought the whole ride belonged to them, no one else. I used to ride in groups and I know the type. I’m hoping that the guy reads this blog and is embarrassed into better behavior. I drive that route a lot lately and next time I’ll be more prepared and will call the police. Just like I would do if a car did it. But a car literally wouldn’t have fit past me; it was that narrow.
There are regular Thursday evening group rides that depart CVS Pharmacy parking lot at 6:30 PM on Thursday. There is no group leader, but the few times I have joined the ride there have been pre-ride comments advocating safety. I also recall seeing Officer Lindsay detain riders in that group since I usually meet (and greet) the group on my way home. You might want to express your concerns at the pre-ride…you would certainly reach a large portion of the Dec rec cyclist group.
I agree about the cell phones. As a pedestrian, I have had several near misses with cars –all with drivers on cell phones, especially when turning at intersections. One car stopped inches away from the stroller I was pushing.
Decatur Minute has an inside peek at the new Mexican restaurant (the old Decatur Diner space).

Years ago, decades ago, I bought a watercolor literally off the wall of a now defunct Decatur restaurant. The artist was Pat Ramsey and the picture showed downtown Atlanta buildings under construction so I assume she (he?) was a local artist.
I would love to know something about the artist after all this time.
This Google image search might help you locate similar-looking paintings by the same artist, which might lead to more information: http://goo.gl/NcCM6
I heard a rumor that Carl Black has moved out of Decatur. What is up with that?
Saw him at the Book Festival. He’s always been such a big booster of City of Decatur, volunteer, and donor. Hope his leaving is a positive move, not disillusionment with COD.
Carl can certainly speak for himself, but from what he told me, it’s purely a positive move for him. He will certainly be missed by many.
Ok, I’ll bite. For those of us who are clueless, who is Carl Black?
Apparently, he’s no Spencer Johnson.
Haha! Well Put!
-F.o.S. (somewhat)
Who is Carl Black? He is Senor Ubiquito! The most consistent and faithful patron of every Decatur event. True story: A year or two ago I attended one of those RAD open studios nights. We saw a lot of great stuff and we saw a lot of people. One of us commented that she was surprised we hadn’t run into Carl yet. Swear to God, the next studio we visited, there was a PORTRAIT of Carl on the wall.
So he’s not the used car salesman? http://www.carlblack.com/
A neighbor told me there will be a garage sale at 213 Wilton Dr. tomorrow from 9am-2pm. In addition to lots of odds and ends, she said there will be several pieces of furniture available, including a twin size box springs and a round table and chairs. Just wanted to throw this out there in case any DMers are looking for a garage sale to hit up tomorrow.
Well, hell, then: I’m having one across from the McKoy St. Entrance to McKoy Park from 9 to 1ish. I have some music gear including some guitar effects. My kids gathered a few boxes of toys to sell. I think they’re saving up for a DIY interocitor kit.
Looking for advice on a local Pet Surgeon…
Our 7-year old german shepard has a torn ACL and it looks like we would spend over $3,000 to get him fixed up at a local Pet Hospital.
I love our dog… but $3,000+ really kills our budget. His life is not in immediate danger – he’s a happy dog with a limp right now. However, his quality of life will degrade if we don’t get it addressed.
I know this room is not shy with strong opinions or personal experiences. Please let me know your thoughts.
Russ, our dog has the same injury, which he suffered in December 2010. Around the same time, he also became ill with Cushing’s disease. Our strategy was to treat the Cushing’s and wait and see on the knee, once we were given the same $3,000 estimate for surgical repair and given our dog’s age. He was almost 10 at the time of the injury, and his breed has an average life span of 10 to 14 years.
He’s lived with the knee since then, and it doesn’t seem to bother him. We still take him for short walks and he climbs the stairs in our house. In fact, since the treatment of the Cushing’s, he’s full of energy and very happy. I did a lot of research about such knee injuries, and I think “wait and see” is a viable option. Our vet, the wonderful Matt Miller who just left Village Vets, felt our strategy was reasonable.
Thanks for the feedback.
He’s already on pain meds for a bad back, and we’ve put him on a diet to reduce the stress on his knee. No more playing ball, but we are going to try to take him for more regular walks to get him some low impact exercise to maintain his strength and weight.
At this point… we’re leaning towards avoiding the surgery and seeing if we can help him feel better at a lower weight.
Curious, our 10 year old dog has just been diagnosed with Cushings, as well. We’ve already done one test, 3 months of $90 pills (with no improvement). Now they want to do another test–over $300. She’s already had 2 surgeries (unrelated to Cushings, but costing in the thousands). Did your dog get tested at Village Vets? Do you recall the pricing of the test?
Aeroplane overthe sea,
The first test, which cost about $200 at Village Vets, was to determine whether his hormone levels — I can’t remember which hormone– were elevated. They were. He then had an ultrasound to determine whether the tumor causing the disease was located on the pituitary gland or the adrenal gland. One is operable, costing lots of money upfront but less over the long run. The ultrasound cost maybe $500? Our dog’s tumor was not operable. Therefore, Dr. Miller prescribed the daily medication, He suggested we use a compounded emulsion, which for our dog costs $70 per month. We get it at a veterinary compounding pharmacy in Arizona called Roadrunner Pharmacy. It’s actually very convenient. After a couple of weeks, the dog had another hormone test to determine whether his hormone levels had normalized in order to determine whether the dosage was correct. Another $200. He had another test at two months. Another $200. Everything looked good, so he doesn’t have to go back until six months for another test. I expect he’ll be tested every six months at $200 a pop for the rest of his life. He feels much, much better. His hair has grown back (he was pitifully bald), his appetitite is normal, he doesn’t drink vast quantities of water, and he doesn’t pant all the time anymore. I’m sorry to hear your dog has this. Good luck.
I don’t know about that particular injury but I do know about limps.
A couple of years ago my gal got a pronounced limp. She went on anti-inflammatories and that cleared it up for a bit, but a couple of months after she went off them it returned. If she were to stay on them permanently, she would have to have blood & liver checks for the rest of her life which is obviously not ideal.
After getting it cleared up again, they recommended Gucosamine (which honestly made me roll my eyes), but I haven’t seen a limp since, and we do a mile at night minimum, sometimes a couple. Maybe see if your vet has an opinion on Synovi G3. They are a chewy treat which she LOVES and I’m able to get them from my vet’s office. They are not cheap, but certainly cheaper than the alternative. She’s been on them over a year and all is well.
It’s miserable having a pet in pain. Good luck
My doggie took glucosamine daily for years. At the vet’s suggestion, we used the generic version from Publix (made for people). It wasn’t chewy and delicious like the kind from the vet, but she was a good girl and cooperated about taking it. It made a world of difference, and kept us from having to use Rimadyl except occasionally. (The Rimadyl often had G-I side effects that neither of us enjoyed.)
Is it a pill? My gal has become an expert at sniffing out pills, meticulously licking and chewing every morsel of whatever we tried to hide it in, and leaving the pill in the floor unscathed.
Side note- after I saw how well it worked on her, I started taking it too. Presently using a name brand, but it sounds like I need to check out the Publix stuff.
Yes, it’s a pill. If I remember correctly, I gave her 1/2 each morning. She hated the taste, but would let me “pill” her without argument. (I almost always followed it with a little treat, so she would have a stake in the whole transaction.) She had had heartworm treatment when quite young (before I got her) and I think that’s why she was generally cooperative about taking meds. (Same dog let me dose her with liquid Kaopectate once, when direly needed. Traumatic for both of us, but we got it done and she got well.)
My dog tore her cruciate at age 4. After much debate I went ahead with the surgery (TPLO procedure) given her age, size and activity level. Today shes thriving at age 11. I did however choose to have it done at a university vet school rather than my local vet. While it was still an extraordinary expense it was about 2k.
We went to Auburn ( family in the area) but Georgia has a great clinic as well. I think all require a referral from your vet.
Good luck with a tough decision.
Not exactly local but I had a friend who’s dog had hip replacement surgeries at UGA Vet’s school. She and Eddie aka Lab have been very happy with his bionic hips for many years now. Plus, it was much more affordable going to the Vet school clinic.
May be worth asking for a second opinion — or cost of surgery/discounts — over at Saint Francis on DeKalb Industrial: http://www.sfvs.com/
My vet referred me to Dr. Smallwood there when my cat had a rare condition. The clinic is nice and clean, the vet sweet and smart, and the cat is fine!
I have the same issue with my rescue pup. My vet and I both agree that surgery is not a good option. Dundee is on a NSAID (Rimadyl) and is losing a few pounds to take pressure off her joints.
Our vet suggested NSAID or other pain relief if our dog seemed to be hurting. We haven’t needed it yet, but definitely it’s one way to go.
UGA Vet School is a teaching hospital. My sister had one of her dogs patched up there and he lived a long and fruitful life. Don’t know how she managed to pull this off, but my niece being pre-vet at the time might have helped.
As I recall, Dr. Cameron Moorehead at Mainstreet Vets in Stone Mountain is married to a faculty member. He might be able to provide information.
If I recall correctly, I phoned the UGA vet school, and you had to get a referral and it didn’t seem to save that much money. It was some time ago, so I may be remembering incorrectly.
This may have been discussed in here before, but…
I’m curious about the pedestrian crossings sprinkled throughout Decatur. Are vehicles supposed to stop for pedestrians only when there is a pedestrian actively crossing the street (and thereby preserving the life of said pedestrian) or should they stop when a pedestrian is waiting to cross? And what about bikes? I was at the crossing by Taqueria del Sol one evening this past week waiting to cross. A vehicle in the eastbound lane stopped for us, but a cyclist heading westbound blew right through without stopping, What is the right thing to do – as a pedestrian or as a driver/cyclist? Happy weekend, all!
Cars and bicyclists are supposed to stop for pedestrians waiting to cross the road at marked crossings.
Peds.org has the info you are seeking:
§ 40-6-91. Right of Way in Crosswalks:
(a) The driver of a vehicle shall stop and remain stopped to allow a pedestrian to cross the roadway within a crosswalk when the pedestrian is upon the half of the roadway upon which the vehicle is traveling, or when the pedestrian is approaching and is within one lane of the half of the roadway on which the vehicle is traveling or onto which it is turning. For the purposes of this subsection, “half of the roadway” means all traffic lanes carrying traffic in one direction of travel.
(b) No pedestrian shall suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle which is so close that it is impractical for the driver to yield.
(c) Subsection (a) of this Code section shall not apply under the conditions stated in subsection (b) of Code Section 40-6-92.
(d) Whenever any vehicle is stopped at a marked crosswalk or at any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection to permit a pedestrian to cross the roadway, the driver of any other vehicle approaching from the rear shall not overtake and pass such stopped vehicle.
40-6-92 deals with crossing outside a marked crosswalk.
Have you noticed that hardly anyone is stopping at the new stop sign between DHS and the apartments on Commerce?
There’s a crosswalk there too (actually now there are two crosswalks and a bike lane that people drive in especially when traveling south and turning right onto West Howard) — drivers don’t seems to care if someone is crossing the street.
With the senior apartments soon to open, and all the students crossing there, it’s so dangerous when the drivers don’t pay attention, or don’t care.
I have never tubed down the Hooch. I have lived in Decatur 28 years and it’s is about time I do it. Does anyone have any recommendations for this being a great time?
I shot the Hooch several times in HS and in my 20s. It used to be lots of fun. In some ways, the river is cleaner now then back then (less sewage). However, there is a lot more runoff from roads and roofs and yards = oil, metals, pesticides, and herbicides, and fertilizer. Still it should be fun. I recommend a canoe or a kayak over a tube. You can still tie up or beach and jump in the water if you get hot. You used to be able to jump off a cliff, not sure if that is still “allowed”.
Powers Ferry to US41 is a classic float. Best in a raft, canoe, or kayak.
Take PFDs, since Cobb County and US Park Service officers patrol the river. Leave glass containers at home. Be discrete, since officers watch from great distances. Don’t raft immediately after flooding rains, since e-coli levels go off the charts then. Be prepared to paddle primarily to steer your craft. Give yourself 3 – 4 hours to enjoy. Take field glasses for wildlife, a fishing rod for dinner. A full moon midnight float is an unforgettable experience.
We are coming up on some of the best weather for shooting the Hooch, with cooler temps and foilage changes.
There are not crowds on the river like the old days. You can still jump off the diving rocks, though streaking is frowned upon by the beforementioned law enforcement officers.
A great place to pull up on the rocks and watch others pass is called Devil’s Race Course, a short section of narrow whitewater below the I-285 bridges. You will usually see kayak playboaters here.
Amen to that. The rangers watch from up close and afar, do registration checks and flotation device checks. I have represented many a person charged with drinking or smoking weed on the river, so make sure to keep it clean and sober. The fines are hefty and the federal probation is no joke.
Yep. People are usually shocked when their silly open container or misdemeanor marijuana ticket ends them up in federal court. They’re even more shocked when they find out that’s going to double (at least) their legal fees and court costs.
It was in the good ol” days.

A great FFAF link!
Though I never participated I regret that “Casual debauchery and rafting were no longer hip.”
I remember going to see that during the 70s as a kid/adolescent. My older sister did it every year. Grass smoking and alcohol swilling were the norm. I was, alas, too young and did it in the 80s when it was slightly calmer and the big event was no more. I remember one year my older cousin that was attending GaTech went down it with a bunch friends. They built this amazing float that was like a 4 part catamaran. I used to wonder where they got the giant blocks of styrofoam. Probably from some warehouse in the industrial district near GaTech. I’m sure it “fell off” some truck. I was not allowed to ride as I was too young. Cool photos. Just how I remember it, except for the garish 70′s colors!
These were so much fun, your link brings back memories…
A separate tube for your cooler of beer is nice, just make sure you have cans and not bottles
First time I saw the phrase “shoot the Hootch,” I thought it was a euphemism for dropping a deuce, releasing brown trout, dropping the kids off at the pool, etc.
…and that is what it now means in our household.
thought the same thing two years ago, after great memories of tubing the hooch in the 80s. Thought I’d bring the kids reconnect with nature. But somehow, I moved a lot slower in the tube then I remembered, (used single tubes, rather than large rafts) something to do with excess weight … ah, heck. I would recommend a kayak or canoe …
and if anyone finds a set of keys under the Roswell Road bridge, they’re mine …..
All of the warnings of run-off, e-coli etc. would give me pause. I would consider cleaner and more enjoyable settings to connect with a flowing river:
- The Chestate in Dahlonega is about 75 minutes away. You can rent kayaks and tubes (www.canoegeorgia.com) There are no rangers, houses, highways, etc. just nature.
- Toccoa River in McCaysville is just under 2 hours away. ToccoaRiverAdventures.com
Restaurants for Repairs – Benefitting Decatur’s Martin Luther King Jr. Service Project

Enjoy a Meal and Lend a Hand
Dine at participating great Decatur restaurants on Sept. 18. A percentage of the day’s proceeds goes to the Decatur MLK Service Project, a large scale volunteer initiative to help low income Decatur seniors live safely, comfortably and affordably in their homes by completing: needed repairs, weatherization, handicap accessible features and yard work. A list of participating restaurants (including links to their websites) is available at http://www.mlkserviceproject.com or http://www.decaturga.com/restaurantsforrepairs. There are restaurants for every price range and a wide variety of cuisine. We are partnering with the City of Decatur’s “Keep it Indie-Catur” initiative to encourage people to shop, dine and support local businesses.
Heading to Eddie’s Attic tonight to see friend and Decaturite Caroline Herring for her new CD release concert. She’ll be there Saturday night also. Come on over!
We have a family disagreement about the pronunciation of Bucher Dr. I’ve had to correct my husband’s way of saying Ponce de Leon (he was genuinely distressed by the Atlanta pronunciation) and DeKalb. So, how do Decaturites say this name?
Booker.
Boo – ker
That pronunciation is making me distressed.
Thank you both. I’m going to keep him away from Cairo…that pronunciation will leave the poor man weeping in the fetal position.
I hope no one informs your husband how they pronounce Martinez in Columbia County or Vienna in Dooly County. He’ll get really distressed then.
Or Houston County.
Or Taliaferro County.
In case you missed our Congressman at the DNC, here is a link to a part of his speech that brought many to tears: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wn1yuJFQRn8&feature=g-user-u . I am glad to see so many John Lewis yard signs throughout Decatur!
Complete nonsense, of course.
To suggest that anyone – Republican or Democrat – is trying to prevent some person or group of people from voting is wrong and silly. However, voter fraud is real and happens all the time – doesn’t take long to find dozens of examples, inlcuding one fromt he DNC’s own NC: http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=news/local&id=8301269
He’s right in one respect – the vote is too precious not to take seriously – not to protect with ID protections.
http://www.truthaboutfraud.org/
I don’t think anyone would actually prevent anyone from voting, that probably true. But would hardcore partisans attempt to make it difficult to vote in hopes of discouraging would-be voters? You bet they would. And given that Democrats typically do better with higher turnout, it’s hard to not to figure who is behind the sudden push for voter ID laws. Voter fraud wasn’t a problem 30 years ago. So why is it now?
Ever rear the LBJ biography? I recall something about a missing ballot box in a south Texas county.
“happens all the time”
What evidence do you have of that? Genuinely questioning. I’m asking because I listened to something on the Diane Rehm show on this very topic, and everyone agreed that it was rare.
Nonsense, you say?
I have a fire ant bite on my ankle from 2 days ago, which is still itching and swelling. Any advice? I only want to use topical treatments at this time, because of other medications I take. I have tried ice packs, hot water soak, apple cider vinegar application, and elevating my foot. Any advice would be sincerely appreciated.
My mom used to make a thick paste of crushed aspirin for our fire ant bites, but that may not work if the bite is more than 24 hours old. Worth a try, though!
Thanks Heather. I’ll give it a try!
hydrocortisone cream works for me.
Thanks for the hydrocortisone cream remedy; I bought some, now I will try it. GRADUALLY, the swelling is going down and itching is at a “lower level”, so would love to finally put it to rest. The lesion itself will take more time… THANK YOU!
Resinol is the best medicated ointment for all types of insect bites and skin irratations. It takes away the itch almost instantly. Also will cure diaper rash from one diaper change to the next. Works just as great for heat rash. It’s a very old product and I haven’t been able to find it in a store. However, ordered it at Walmart pharmacy and they had it the next day. A 4 oz container costs less than $10 and will last for years. A phenomenal gift for any parents of a new born.
Resinol. Will order some right away, as fire ants are EVERYWHERE around here. I am so tired of those little pests, and they love bus stop locations of course. THANK YOU Gatree!
Benadryl cream, although I think a little of the antihistamine is absorbed into the bloodstream, so you might want to be careful about the drug interactions
Thanks for the benadryl cream idea; I got some of it too! I’m going to overcome this tiny ant one way or another!
Good Luck!
I opened the most recent Decatur Focus and as always flipped to the official recreational or now Active Decatur offerings. As a Boomer turning 64, I am dismayed by the frozen in time choices- Red Hats are so last decade, bridge, occasional bus field trips. Look at a city like Asheville for future thinking, depth-full approaches to the needs of those of us who are looking at more leisure time in the next few years. How about a task force that is truly representative of this new generation of sixty-somethings?
I would enjoy access to an outdoor archery range.
Public bocce court
Have you checked out Evening At Emery? Some great enrichment programs offered there.
I don’t work for the rec center but I bet they’d let you start a task force to give recommendations! Good luck!
I took some photos of the historic marker unveiling for Waffle House. I’ll post soon!
I know this is discussed every year but I don’t know how to find it in the archives:
I need suggestions for a nice place to go out for Thanksgiving dinner. We want to eat in the evening rather noon time. Group will be 6 or 8 and range from teen to seniors.
My family ate at the 57th Fighter Wing Restaurant at DeKalb Peachtree Airport last year for Thanksgiving. They have a large buffet style Thanksgiving dinner.
Does anyone have a local travel agent? We have no problem with normal trips booking ourselves online but would like to plan something special and enlist the help of a professional. Any ideas?
Try Becky Lamb. She is knowledgeable and very easy to work with. http://www.beckylambtravel.com/
