Decatur Beach Party Tonight!
Decatur Metro | June 15, 2012The Decatur Minute reminds us of tonight’s Decatur Beach Party along Ponce. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. Kids 3-12 are $5 each. You can still purchase advance tickets HERE.
The beach party is the Decatur Business Association’s largest fundraiser of the year and helps support other events throughout the year in Decatur. A bit more info from the Minute…
Please remember that no outside food or drinks are allows inside the festival gates-also no coolers or pets, sorry!
Finally, our Decatur Fire Department will be collecting canned goods and other non-perishable items for our local food banks. The summer is a tought time for those organizations so please bring us supplies to help stock the shelves. Drop your items in the big red barrels at any of the entry gates tomorrow.
Also, Patch has some cool photos of the sand on the Square as of this morning. Neat shots!

What else to bring? Maybe beach towels?
Best place to park when coming from Oakhurst (too far to walk)?
Entry gate locations?
Food and drink for sale?
When does concert begin?
Thanks neighbors!
What else to bring? Maybe beach towels? – we do not bring towels, but that might just be me.
Best place to park when coming from Oakhurst (too far to walk)? – how about the free county garage? right at Trinity and Commerce (I think that is Trinity at least)
Entry gate locations? – there should be one near the Iberian Pig/Square Pub area. We enter on the other side of the Square by the Starbuck’s. The sand is right there on Ponce.
Food and drink for sale? yes. We plan on smuggling in some snacks for the kiddo.
When does concert begin? way after bedtime for the baby, so no clue…last time we saw the concert, I think it was dark…so maybe 8:00?
Great tips. Figured I’d be home before the big music starts. This is Granny’s first adventure taking both grandsons (cousins 10 months apart), and we are gonna play in the dirt (sand)!
Thank you.
Great event. I liked the change of having the kid’s admission include include use of the bouncy houses, skeeball, etc., rather than having to screw around with tickets. Thumbs up to the climbing wall.
Just got home from the Beach Party. I’ve been to many iterations, this may have been the best. I always love seeing the kids play in the sand and I danced like a fool to that band.
To paraphrase W. B. Yeats, Folks danced like a wave of the sea.
