Volunteers and DHS Students Honor Vets For Memorial Day

Several volunteers, including two Decatur High School students, were able to place flags and flowers on the graves of all the military dead in the Decatur Cemetery (all that we have identified. I’m sure there are many more. Maybe next year). The plan is to pick up the flags and flowers tomorrow/Monday at 7:00P.M. after the playing of Amazing Grace (or something appropriate) by Mr. Henry Frantz on the bagpipes. Anyone who would like to volunteer should meet at the Veteran’s rock (Church St. Entrance) Monday at 6:00. Please contact Chris Billingsley at for more info.
6:30 may be better. Plenty of time to pick a flag to stand next to for the playing of Amazing Grace at 7:00 P.M.
My brothers served. My father served. His father served. My mother’s fathers et al served back to the 1700’s. Had I known earlier I would have been there, probably wiping a tear from my eye. I need to make sure I am there for next year.
Thank you for doing this, Mr. B– and my sincerest, heartfelt thanks to ALL of our veterans, past and present, on this Memorial Day.
I hate when people say +1. But +1.
