Any favorite Mother’s Day brunch/lunch spots in Decatur? My mom is coming to town!
Better make reservations pronto. My favorites are Cafe Lily, the brunch at Parker’s on Ponce (pricey) and Sun in My Belly.
I think I saw that Iberian Pig is offering a Mother’s Day brunch.
My in-laws were very impressed (as was my 6 year old) with Harbor Bar’s brunch. They had a nice selection and options that covered a few different cuisines. Plus, they have bottomless mimosas. We went to Cafe Diem for a Sunday brunch baby shower. It was also excellent (and if I remember correctly, also had bottomless mimosas. Hmmm….)
Harbor Bar and Fish House has a Sunday Brunch.
And don’t forget Mother’s Day Tea at Cozee.
Is there a special Mother’s Day event there? I don’t see it on their website.
If you’re talking about Cozee, it may be sold out.
Yup, figures.
Went to Cafe Lily for brunch last year on Mother’s Day. They had a large special brunch menu. The food was outstanding.
We’re going to Wahoo.
Just had to say John Lewis did his district proud again this week.
Please, please, please let that be sarcasm! 😉
http://blogs.ajc.com/political-insider-jim-galloway/2012/05/10/john-lewis-objects-and-paul-broun-backs-away-from-attempt-to-gut-voting-rights-act/
Yeah, still hoping it was sarcasm.
John Lewis – still fighting the last war.
He has absolutely nothing else to offer.
I’ll acknowledge that this statement was a bit harsh.
Well, apparently that war isn’t over yet.
+1
The war is over for most of us – just not for the people who can benefit from perpetuating it. Like, say, a 25 year member of Congress.
It’s easy to imagine why John Lewis would be wary of having the Voting Rights Act overturned. He risked his life, had his head beat in, lost friends in the fight to have it passed. It’s easy to dismiss it as yesterday’s fight, but to think that he’s only pushing this for his political gain is beyond cynical and disrespectful of the strides that Mr. Lewis help this country make.
John Lewis’ primary opponent says it best, I think:
Our district has grown and evolved greatly over the last quarter of a century, the last time we had a new congressional representative. New leadership is needed now because we can no longer afford to approach every issue from a singular lens, as has been the practice for the last 25 years. As your Congressman, I will speak out and push for meaningful legislation on the issues that matter to the hard-working families of Georgia’s Fifth Congressional District. We need a forward thinker with a bold vision because our citizens understand: we will never capture the future while attempting to relive the past.
http://michaeljohnsonforcongress.com/
I’m fine with that. But not fine with accusing John Lewis of using his unending defense the Voting Rights Act for little more than political gain.
Well, either he’s using it for political gain, or as you implied he so scarred by his experiences 40+ years ago that he can’t get over it. Neither answer inspires me to keep him in office.
Why should he get over it? Beaten, bus that he was on bombed, friends killed. Would you expect a combat veteran of a war to “get over it” and not bring it to his daily existence?
Warren, go back and read the story in the link and research Section 5. Paul Broun wasn’t trying to overturn the VRA. It’s this kind of uninformed comment that feeds these silly arguments.
No, but just like the rest of his ilk, he was trying to gut it and in effect limit enforcement.
I know exactly what Broun is trying to do. You can disagree with me, you can call my arguments “silly” all you want. But that doesn’t make you right. Clearly Lewis’ argument and my defense of him wasn’t so silly . . . it won the day.
Obviously, it was never your war.
STG, I need to learn to follow your advice about not reading the comments that get posted after AJC articles. The pride I felt for Congressman Lewis as my representative is now tempered with sorrow and shame having read some terribly bigoted comments on the AJC site! ::sigh::
Regardless of how I feel about John Lewis as a congressman (which is certainly not positive), those posts on AJC are just shameful.
At least Paul Broun’s proposal was not racially inflammatory, like U.S. Rep. John Lewis’s comment in 2006 about what would happen if a Republican candidate was elected Chair of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners: “You think fighting off dogs and water hoses in the ’60s was bad? [Now we] sit idly by, and let the right-wing Republicans take control of the Fulton County Commission.” As reported by Ernie Suggs and Maria Saporta.
Impossible for me to forgive and forget that kind of racially charged stuff.
Absolutely. I believe Shirley Franklin was also involved in that ad. It was truly shameful.
Toml and Walrus – What the heck are you guys talking about? I guess I’m dense but I don’t see any racially charged shameful anything here. And I mean, really, given his life experiences, can you blame Congressman Lewis if he is sensitive to the racism among us?
You have got to be kidding me. You know it is ok to like somebody and still disagree with something they did…
– Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin said Thursday that she doesn’t regret her role in a controversial eleventh-hour campaign spot that raised the specter of black voters once again “fighting off dogs and water hoses” if a Republican candidate were elected to the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, reports the Journal-Constitution. In the ad for Democrat John Eaves, who won countywide election Tuesday to chairman of the board, Franklin said the civil rights work of Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott King, Hosea Williams and Maynard Jackson would be lost if Republicans were elected.
“That’s why we must stand up, and we must turn out the vote for the Democrats on election day,” Franklin said in the ad. Her lines were right after the more pointed remarks of U.S. Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.): “You think fighting off dogs and water hoses in the ’60s was bad? [Now we] sit idly by, and let the right-wing Republicans take control of the Fulton County Commission.” Civil rights stalwart Andrew Young also spoke in the ad, saying Republican rule would “turn back the clock on equal rights.” Bloggers, conservative radio and letters to the editor have labeled the ads as racially inflammatory.
http://www.thecrimereport.org/archive/ga-political-ad-warned-blacks-of-gop-dogs-water-hoses
“Bloggers, conservative radio and letters to the editor have labeled the ads as racially inflammatory.” — Well, I guess that settles it, then.
I was just waiting for someone to focus on that! Typical refocus of the issue at hand. I think any sensible person would find that ad to be over the line.
Now, wait just a goldarned minute, Wally. I’m not re-focusing anything, you’re the one who cited three sources of public commentary that all have extremely high potential to be wacko. (They are not the only ones by any means, but they’re the ones you mentioned.)
The ad is hyperbolic, to be sure, but I don’t perceive it as intrinsically racist nor do I consider it over the top. And I am a sensible person.
I didn’t cite anything. That was the full text of the article that I linked. I didn’t write it. Furthermore, I never said the ad was “racist”, it is not.
I just like intellectual honesty. If some Republican came out with some similar type of ad, you same people would be screaming bloody murder. You know it and I know it.
OK, I misunderstood what was your comment and what you were quoting. I take it back. You didn’t cite “bloggers, conservative radio and letters to the editor” as credible arbiters. You quoted somebody who did.
I value intellectual honesty, too. And I deplore intellectual laziness, as exemplified by the argument, “If [insert ‘your side’ code word here] did the same thing, you’d be upset/complaining/howling.
It’s called consistency…
Furthermore, bringing up that ad was a refocus of the original discussion. This whole conversation reminds me how interesting it is that conservatives often lambast the liberal “PC police” but have their own rules about what might be “inflammatory” and therefore out of bounds.
Again, some people are incapable of being intellectual honest. Had some Republican come out with a similar ad, I would think it shameful as well. Why do some people think that if they acknowledge an error on the part of someone they support, that they somehow have conceded that the person is no good?
Wally, go for a swim and cool down.
Thank you for the advise. I am nice and calm though, enjoying a beer. I’ve learned long ago that most people are hypocrites when it comes to politics and every now and then I just get the urge to call them out on it.
So, essentially, anybody who disagrees with you is a hypocrite? That policy certainly offers consistency, on a certain level, anyway.
Yup, that’s exactly what I said. Well done.
The war is not over. In fact the other side is winning. We especially need a Congressperson of Mr. Lewis’ caliper and passion now that some people are trying their best to hinder other people’s voting rights.
Got my yard sign this week. Pleased to have a real American hero represent me in Congress.
I wholeheartedly concur (no sarcasm). John Lewis is a representative we can be proud of.
I am not being sarcastic. John Lewis is an amazing human being and I am so pleased to vote for him every two years!
Don’t forget about the primary in July. He has an opponent this year.
I thought “change” was good!
Yes, change is good, but not merely change for the sake of change. I am enormously proud of Congressman Lewis and see no reason to throw him out of office. And I am delighted that he stood up to Paul Broun, who is a complete embarrassment to the state.
Oh, I didn’t think you were being sarcastic! Just announcing upfront that I wasn’t, either. Thanks posting this.

C’mon people, really? We should be taking off work early, enjoying the beautiful weather, and thinking about how we’re going to show our appreciation for all the moms this weekend.
Wouldn’t that be so much better than arguing politics on Decatur Metro? And yes, I know my nickname is Token, but that doesn’t mean I’m interested in lobbing balls back and forth over the net in a political discussion.
Now GO! Outside to the playground! Get on your bike! Walk your dog! Buy something nice for the mom in your life (or yourself) at one of Decatur’s fine establishments!
Hear, hear! This thread sounds like something that would happen if Lee Greenwood and Cat Stevens had a political discussion.
That is the most bizarre analogy your sick brain has yet to birth.
I will take that as a compliment, whether intended or not 😉 I originally thought of NWA and Toby Keith but went with the more obvious reference. I also thought of Toby Keith and Bruce Springsteen and that one really amused me because I could totally picture Toby Keith pulling a Ronald Reagan and being like “Hell ya, man, I was born in the US-of-freaking-A too and I’m a goddamned patriot!” while Bruce just shakes his head and sighs. I then picture Toby saying “You know what we need now? 41 Shots…of tequila! Booya!”
And damn you, woman, now I’m gonna have “Shoulda been a Cowboy” stuck in my head all day. Time to fire up The River and hopefully replace that ear worm with some Hungry Heart.
Toby Keith is a Democrat.
Toby Keith’s gone (or always was) independent. Sez he can’t stand politicians and will vote for who he wants. Recent appearance on Chelsea Lately:

(3:45 mark)
Well, there’s idiots on both sides I guess. Democrat, Republican, whatever. Just listen to Born in the USA and then that Boot in Your Ass song.
We are visiting him in a couple of weeks on our trip to DC. Does anyone have a personal message to deliver?
Thanks for the link FM Fats. I was curious what the issue was. Now I know Nelliebelle got it right.

Paul Broun is an embarassment to Georgia. Republicans are making a concerted effort to limit minority voters. Submitting an amendment that late at night to gut major civil rights legislation was cowardly and devious.
The ad that Franklin, Lewis and others participated in was a low point in their political and public careers and they should all be ashamed of it. There is no place in Atlanta for race pandering from any side.
John Lewis is a great man and has been a fine representative.
That said, John Lewis should step aside and let new blood, new ideas, and a fresh perspective be brought to his district.
Anyone else noticing that the “Palmetto” Bugs appear to be living large already this year?
Anyone know of any good companies that handle these or know of any other methods to try to get a rid of a few of these things other than my search and destroy method? I only see one or two every other day or so but I cant stand these things.

Yes! Guess it’s the wacky warm winter we had.
Get a can of “Bengal Roach Spray” and spray it around your baseboards once every 6 weeks or so. Then enjoy a bug free house. After I spray, I typically leave the house for an hour or two – the smell bothers me a little, but goes away quickly.
I learned about Bengal when I lived in Southeast Texas. I rented an apartment that was on the bottom floor in an area that used to be a pasture. I was killing between 40 and 50 spiders a day in that apartment. I was woken up twice in one week by spiders crawling on my arm in bed. I was ready to move out when a co-worker introduced me to this stuff. Trust me, it works miracles. It’s made by folks in south Louisiana who know what bugs are.
I agree with Bub. I’ve been using Bengal at my house for years now. it really works and the effects last for a long time. every time i see a palmetto bug now it’s either already dead or dying. i use it all around the inside and outside of the house at baseboards, doorways, windows, etc.
Where do you get the stuff? HD or lowes?
Home depot and lowes should have it. I’m pretty darn sure I’ve bought it at intown ace recently. Typically you won’t find it at places like Publix or Target. (but i’ve been wrong before – just ask my wife! 😉 )
I just read the MSDS on Bengal Roach Spray, and won’t be using it. Boric acid powder is safe and effective (but messy inside the house). Cutting back near-door/near window shrubs, grass, and junk is a good deterrent, as is cleaning gutters and other breeding spaces. You may need to screen your air conditioning/heating vents also, because they also live in those pipe systems, which they can enter from the roof openings.
According to the MSDS, the active ingredient is Permethrin, which is the same stuff used to get rid of lice. Note that it is highly toxic to cats.
If you live in a house, try more frequent gutter cleaning and removal of ivy around your home. Those were the wise words we received, and it did seem to help. Also, keep a big shoe handy.
If you’ve got thick layers of oak leaves around the house, rake those up. I couldn’t get in my back door until I cleaned out under the deck. They look for moisture, so keeping gutters clean helps a lot, too.
Seal up any gaps you can find. Great Stuff is the world’s most excellent product.
Thanks for letting me know about Bengal. Is there a local place to buy this product? I probably could clean my gutters more often but my wife loves the way the ivy looks on our house so I can’t get rid of that. I always have shoes handy.
Anyone hosted or attended a children’s birthday party at Greene’s? If so, how was it? Would it be age appropriate for a 4 year old’s party? Any suggestions for other party locations besides Leapin Lizards for that age in/near Decatur?
Little Shop of Stories
Wild Oats and Billy Goats
That Pottery Place (our favorite)
Oakhurst Community Garden. Also, The Martial Arts Center in Toco Hills shopping center did a really fantastic party for my 5-year-old son. All the kids had a grea time and the parents told me it was the coolest party they’d seen.
We attended one at Greene’s, and it was great! We also hosted one at Little Shop. It was one of my favorite parties ever.
We did my daughter’s 4th at Greene’s. It was really fun and they took care of everything! They planned 2 activities; we brought cake and snacks (optional). We were on a tight budget and I think they came in a little cheaper than LSOS, but that was 2 years ago so I don’t know current prices. I am sure either would be very fun.
I had my 4 year old’s birthday party at SoulShine in Kirkwood. It was one of the least expensive options, they offer to run the party for you (make crafts with the kids), offer lots of ideas, let you bring in your own food/bevs (including beer).
There is a huge downstairs for the kids to run around , as well as the fenced in front yard. The kids had a BLAST!
One of the moms told me that I’d “won” the birthday party scene with that party. I can’t recommend them enough:
http://www.makeyoursoulshine.com/
We went to a party at SoulShine a while back. Pretty fun! I am definitely going to keep them in mind for this year. We are always looking for affordable options as we have a shoebox-sized house and a yard that’s not really great for parties, esp in late summer.
Glenlake Park. We own it, kids love it, shady places, grills, running around, you name it.
Has anyone tried the new Persian restaurant yet?
Had take out from there earlier this week and it was good. We only got an appetizer sampler and some kabobs but everything was well seasoned, fresh and tasty. I am looking forward to going back and actually eating in the restaurant.
Yes we have, during its 1st week. Try the three stews – the portions aren’t large (yay) and it flavors were unusual and delicious. I like the walnut-pomegranate best.
Service was pretty good although it sort of fell apart at the end. But– it was their 1st week. We’ll def be back.
Cool, thanks! One of my co-workers is going tonight. He’s 1/4 Persian, so he’s supposed to give me his full report as well. Looking forward to trying it!
We went the first week – had great service, great food. We will go back.
Want to try a Decatur Pedicab ride? Check them out at the Concerts on the Square this month. Bicycle South is sponsoring FREE pedicab rides the next 3 Saturday nights!

Glad they are back. I thought they went out of business.
My family has started an innovative and very convenient storage solution that we’d like to share with Decatur (and all the rest of metro Atlanta). Our company, Fifth Room Storage (5RS), will come pick up your stuff (boxes, furniture, etc.) for FREE and store it. You can see your items in your online account. When you want one, a few, or all of your items, have them delivered next day with the click of your mouse. No lifting, renting trucks, or digging through storage units. You pay only for the space you use rather than a partially filled storage unit, all for similar rates. Visitors of this site can receive a 15% discount for the first six months storage by using discount code: KEDECATUR
Feel free to forward this discount to those you know throughout Metro Atlanta who might enjoy the convenience 5RS offers. Visit http://www.FifthRoomStorage.com for more info!
Thanks for your support of a new local business! The Ebersolds
Oh, how I wish you’d posted this before my daughter moved out of UGA. I just paid for a partially full storage locker in Athens.
On Saturday, May 12th (TOMORROW) the parking lot of Decatur First UMC (300 E. Ponce de Leon Ave with lot entrance on Commerce Dr) will be the site of a recycling bonanza!! Come from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and recycle everything but your kitchen sink! We will be accepting household items such as furniture and home appliances in working condition, clothing, shoes, books, toys, electronics (including TVs for a $10 charge), paper for shredding ($5 charge per banker’s box), tennis balls, tools, and fabric. Organizations that will receive the collected goods include The United Methodist Children’s Home, First UMC Decatur Prison Ministry, Soles for Shoes, Southface, and local Decatur clothes closets. This is a great way to finish up your spring cleaning, donate to worthy charities, and help the environment! The event will be held rain or shine with a severe weather date of May 19th.
Ashley – does it have to be working order? Like if I have a lamp that probably just needs the Repair Cafe services, will they accept that?
I am very excited about this!
I’m glad you are excited, so am I! Hmm… if you are planning on bringing some other stuff, go ahead and bring the lamp too and we will see if one of the vendors can take it!
Hey – just giving a quick shout out to Risa Soaps. It’s great stuff! Guaranteed to put a shine on Democrats, Republicans, adults, kids and possibly even Palmetto bugs.

What a great idea! We just had our Pod delievered to our house after seven months storage and your alternative sounds dreamy, we would have easily done that. Good luck!
Growing up is for squares:

Nice. We skated barefoot. Been to the skate park in the Old 4th Ward?
Anybody know what all of the commotion is downtown? Lots of cops on Trinity, closed the road. Then, lots of cops and fire engines, ambulances at the Little Kroger.
There was a wreck at N Candler and Commerce about 7:30 this morning.
About 3 Pm I heard from that area a squeal of brakes and a slam so I assume there was an accident.
Our 2 yr old niece is visiting- besides the round and round/land of dead toys park, what else would she enjoy doing around Decatur?
I’m pretty sure that it’s not just recommended, but actually obligatory, that you take her to Twains. Sit at the bar pounding beers and encourage her to run screaming through the restaurant. That seems to work for all the other people with 2 year olds. And don’t worry about bothering me – I’ll be at Trackside!
Of course, I kid. But on a partly more serious note, I must point out that toddlers running amok in Twains bothers me a lot less after making the mistake of going there on a recent weekend night when it was overrun with Emory frat boys and sorority girls. I’ll take the toddlers any day!
Is the mister still working on the Art Deco plaza on the Square? Glenlake Park has lots of playground equipment. Greens has a cute room. Watching the trains is always fun but hard to predict when one will come through and block traffic.
My best suggestion: Pedicab!!!!!
The mister was working earlier this week when I went by.
I’m such an idiot. I swear to God I was thinking “Mr. Who?” And what’s he working on?
I thought the same thing and only figured it out when I saw your comment! “Oh, they must know each other or something.” Heh.
Me, too.
I still don’t get it. I blame the alcohol.
Oakhurst Community Garden. There’s that mud hut thing they built that’s really cool, and I’m pretty sure they have chickens.
Little shop of stories is a good place to buy a book and play on the train table, you could take a ride on the MARTA to avondale or East Lake and back, the Decatur Library has free things for toddlers (a morning story time and a morning music time and things like that), Leapin’ Lizards has a little kid area, mcKoy park is full of little kids, a trip to dekalb farmer’s market can be fascinating, decatur or oakhurst festivals are always very kid friendly …..
Fernbank has Nature Quest which is always a hit with our 2 year old. Little Shop of Stories, Oakhurst Community Garden, to see the chickens, Glenlake Park, Old 4th Ward Park, and the Botanical Gardens are also great places we frequent.
My Electra Amsterdam bicycle and my son’s 16″ silver Raleigh were stolen Monday night from W College Ave. If you see someone riding this sweet black women’s bike with brown leather handlebars and seat, a white fender, rack on the back, headlight, basket and Amsterdam-style wheel guard, please call the Decatur Police non-emergency number 404-373-6551.
I’ve heard of at least 2 more bikes stolen in the neighborhood last week, not to mention recent car break-ins near Oakhurst School. Lock up your bikes and hide your belongings!
I will be on the lookout… but was I the only person to read this the first time through as “sweet black woman’s” bike and wonder who would steal a bike from a sweet black woman?
You are not the only one. Also, I generally mistrust any woman – black, white or otherwise – who describes herself as “sweet.”
Unless it’s Aunt Jemima, Mrs. Butterworth, or Little Debbie.
There is a place in this world for Comma Police.

Forgive me if this is old news, but a friend in the BBQ industry tells me that Fox Bros is having to do more work on their space than they anticipated and while they had planned to be open in June, looks like it may be July or August. Also, Fat Matt’s brother is supposed to be opening a restaurant somewhere in the vicinity (however the person telling me the second part is not familiar with Decatur geography so I would take this with a grain of salt, it could just mean some other intown or adjacent area).
Long time Avondale Estates resident and music teacher is downsizing so there will be many great things at a garage sale this Saturday, May 12 from 9-4 at 30 Exeter Rd. Items to be sold are: books, household goods, collectibles, Christmas decorations, videos, pet care crates and paraphernalia, etc. Music to be sold at half its retail price includes : printed music, classical piano literature, piano teaching music, and sacred piano music. Follow balloons to back garage area where sale will take place.
If you should have photo albums, slides or negatives I can help you with those. I am a local photo scanner who can help you get the old photos and other images digitized for easier storage and use. Good luck with the downsizing.
There is absolutely nothing for rent in 30030..i have clients waiting!!! if you know of anything coming up please let me know or buy some investment property ASAP it would be rented at a high price and immediately..trust me [email protected]
A “shout out” to the DeKalb Water Department. My sister, who lives in unincorporated Tucker (if there is such a place) called me last Sunday to say that water was gushing in her front yard. She called several plumbers to request service but all were busy. “Can you come over to do something?”, she asked. Having a great deal of experience with turning water valves on and off, I left for Tucker. Unfortunately the water plate was wedged half-way under the driveway AND LOCKED! Whoever heard of locking a water lid? I could not get it off. I suggested that she call DeKalb Water to see if they could help. Sure enough, a truck with three water department employees arrived within 30 minutes. They solved the problem, told us no charge, and refused to accept a tip. Nice Work DeKalb Water!
this comment was meant for Parker Cross
Oh yeah? Well this comment was meant for the Walrus. Obviously, it has also been moderated…
That’s how mine would’ve ended up too. Can’t recall a time when The Walrus hasn’t eagerly jumped in to knock John Lewis. Don’t know if he thinks we don’t notice or if he just can’t resist trying to take down a man who stands so high above most. Whatever his deal is, it sure leaves me with a poor impression of The Walrus.
I could be the Walrus. I’d still have to bum rides off people.
Uh, this is the first time I have ever commented on John Lewis on this blog (or any other blog), so I would appreciate you not spreading misinformation. Secondly, I have great respect for John Lewis as a man; just don’t care for him as a congressman. Just because he has done great things, doesn’t mean he is great at everything he does.
Yep, you’re right. Verified it with a comment search.
The Walrus-Yeah, nothing shows great respect for John Lewis like saying, “He has absolutely nothing else to offer.”
But I do apologize to you since DM says I’ve gotten it wrong. Seems I’ve whirled all your many derogatory remarks about politicians and laws and the need for protections, and wrongly placed most of them at John Lewis’ feet. My bad.
As a politician! Jeez, seems you are very open minded to other views…
Thank you for your sincere apology, I really felt you meant it. Can you please provide one example of a derogatory comment I made about a politician?
Walrus, That’s not quite how mudslinging works. If you’re insulting a man, pretty sure he’s not gonna just assign it to a neat little category and be fine with you otherwise. Would you be? And yes, I’ll admit it’s probably the weakest apology I’ve given out since I was a kid. Best I could do for you, though.
You’ll have to ask DM to use comment search to pull an example of a politician you’ve insulted– President Obama and Hank Johnson will be on there. (Sure wish we had access to that feature too– not just for citing, but for getting the gist of what folks are all about.)
Public figure. I’m sure he can handle it.
So you made a completely wrong comment about me “tearing down” a man every chance I get and that apology is the best you could do? Says a lot about you….
And again, you are wrong. I challenge you to find a “derogatory” comment I have made about Obama or Hank Johnson. The only comment I have made about Hank is a joke about the island tipping comment, and I was far from the only one.I feel you are insinuating a racial component to my comments. I truly hope that is not what you are doing. You would be so embarrassed by that if you knew who I was….
You design your own rules for insulting folks, and I’ll make do with mine for apologizing. When I apologize, it’s usually very heartfelt; however, this one’s going to have to remain flawed. Guess we’re both failing to live up to our best selves. It happens.
I supplied the names of two politicians who I believe you’ve commented negatively on, and you jumped on race all by yourself. As for being embarrassed if I knew who you are? Nah, I’ve always responded to you as you’ve presented yourself to be. Sure, I could be disappointed by your true identity, but that’s more on you, don’t you think?
Besides this post, I cannot recall ever “insulting folks.” It’s shameful that you keep making accusations without backing them up. I’m not sure what has got you all riled up about me (I haven’t even been posting much at all for a long time), but you clearly just have a closed mind as to differences of opinion. I am certainly done with you and would suggest you just ignore my posts if they offend you so much. Thank you and have a great day.
There can certainly be a mob mentality around this joint, at times.
Chadly- You’re definitely right. And there’s also the ever exciting unpredictabilty factor of who’s gonna be the high horse rider or horse’s ass this week? I opted to double up this weekend to get my turns out of the way for May.
[Hey, The Walrus: I’ll match you with: I acknowledge my statement was a bit wrong. Oh, what the hell. I’ll just straight up tell you that I was absolutely wrong for saying that you try to take down John Lewis every chance you get, and I sincerely apologize for it. It truly was due to a faulty recollection based on an overall impression from what you’ve shared on DM, not a deliberate attempt to malign you. Doesn’t make it better, but there it is.]
Thank you Deanne. I appreciate it. While I enjoy political debate immensely (and can certainly be obnoxious in doing so), I truly do try to avoid derogatory comments about anyone. I was not happy with myself for the “nothing else to offer comment.” It was out of character and out of line. Furthermore, you only maligned “The Walrus” anyway, and who is that really?
uh oh.
Just for the record, Udog moderated himself. And I don’t recall it being anything bad.
I was on a smartphone and my comment was not placed under Parker’s like I intended. When I tried to recall it and replace it in the correct location, it was placed in moderation. I self-moderated unknowingly. For the record, here’s the comment about her post on “the mister”.
“You ain’t by your lonesome.”
That’s a great relief.

Just ate at Colbeh and it’s quite good. It reminds me of Persian food I’ve had in NYC. Unique but not overpowering flavors. The rice with sour cherries was exquisite and the lamb kabob was the best, most tender lamb I have ever had. And I like it that half kabobs are an option so you can enjoy your food rather than be overwhelmed by it. And the service was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly tonight. My bet is that this place will be successful.
Not sure how this comment snuck in here two days earlier. The blog gremlins are active.
