always a great race for a great cause! five stars to coach wilsterman for heading oakhurst track club and making running fun for so many of the little people!!
I’m thinking that this photo is really of the start of the 5K (3 mile) not the 1-miler. The ration of kids to adults was much higher in the one miler. Not that lazy old me would know anything about that of course….
One of the great days of my life. My nine year old son ran the 5K with me; he didn’t stop, didn’t walk, didn’t flag…just kept going. I am so proud of him, and I can’t begin to describe how good it felt to run with him in this great event.
Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.
Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.
Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they’re turned around.
Who’d have thought they’d lead ya (Who’d have thought they’d lead ya)
Here where we need ya (Here where we need ya)
Yeah we tease him a lot cause we’ve hot him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.
Events like this are why we love living here. Seeing so many friends and neighbors out supporting a good cause, watching so many kids (and parents) having a great time, and trying to keep up with our 4 year old as he ran an 11 minute mile was pretty awesome. Well done Decatur!
I absolutely loved this! I ran my first 5K and was able to raise a nice bit of money for both the Decatur Education Foundation AND my kid’s school while doing so. HOORAY DECATUR!

I believe this was the 1-mile. Glennwood is all grouped together with, I believe, Oakhurst in the green behind them.

I don’t believe this is really Token. That picture is way too Democratic.
Better?
Much better. Welcome back!
Or, in a nod to your old alter ego:
