Feast Restaurant Closing Its Doors
Decatur Metro | February 22, 2012 | 5:45 pmFeast’s owner Teri Rogers just sent out this note…
Hey Everybody!
I just wanted to let everybody know that I have decided to close the doors of Feast.
After seven years of business, it has come time to say good-bye. Most of you know that I am battling breast cancer for the second time. Although I am very positive that I will kick this disease again, it has been difficult for me to stay as focused on the business as I should be. For the first time in my life, I am going to put my health first.
In addition, our sales have suffered with this challenging economy. It has been a difficult year, not only Feast, but for our customers as well. Although I have enjoyed seeing your friendly and supportive faces over the years, there just does not seem to be enough business to cover my expenses, much less make a profit. I appreciate the patronage that you have all given me. Most of you feel like family so this has been a very difficult decision. If it were not for all of you, I would not have been able to make it to seven years.
There are so many memories of fun and happy times with you all. Just seeing the contented looks on your faces when you are enjoying yourselves has made this project so rewarding. It makes me sad to think that this will be the end. And those that know me know how much I love to throw a good party, so, with luck, I will be starting a catering company and I can bring the best elements of Feast to future events for you. I will send you an updated email with all of the information.
Robin and I want to invite you all to come in this week to say goodbye; Saturday, our last night, we will be celebrating our great run in the wonderful town of Decatur with a toast to our fantastic employees. We and our staff are very sad to have such a remarkable chapter of our lives come to its end. We hope that all of you will continue to eat out often and support your local restaurants.
Peace & love,
Teri
So very sorry to hear this. We have loved and frequented Feast from the get-go, and always enjoyed visiting with Teri, and celebrating her triumphs with her restaurant successes, and health. While we have moved to another part of Atlanta, we always felt that when meeting our Decatur friends, we would go to Feast. Best wishes to Teri, and hang in there and take care of yourself.
Please take care of yourself Teri –
My family and I have spent many memorable holidays and special occasions with you.
All the best.
The DBF VIP party has been at Feast the last several years, and they’ve always been glorious. I’ll really miss the place.
Teri, so sorry you’re having to close Feast! My family and friends
loved every minute we spent there, and you were always so kind and gracious. We wish you good health and all the best in your next endeavor. Feast will be sorely missed.
Teri, we will keep you in our prayers. Feast is an excellent restaurant, with very good wines and a warm atmosphere. You did a fabulous job and I hope you one day decide to do this again when the economy returns.
We have loved your restaurant. Please take care of yourself. Thank you for creating such a wonderful place for our community. Best wishes.
Thank you, Teri. We look forward to your next project. And news of your defeat of cancer for good!
My husband and I were just at Feast last Friday and were talking about what a wonderful place it is…great food, great atmosphere, so comfy and welcoming. So sad to see it go.
Teri, please take care of yourself! Not sure if you remember me, but I reviewed Feast not long after you opened for my column “Discover DeKalb” on a website called “GoDeKalb.”
We’ve always enjoyed our time at Feast and wish you all the best!
Denise
Feast has been a supporter of the Decatur Wine Festival since the very first year we included food as part of the event. Always in the same spot, just on the south side of the Old Courthouse, just under the tree canopy. Thank you, Teri, for your generous advice about recruiting and engaging the restaurants in Decatur to make the most of their wine festival participation.
(And is there any way I could get the recipe for the Green Goddess salad dressing from Farmstead?)
I hope the new catering venture will participate as well. I’ll save the spot for you!
Mary
Teri- Feast is where we went to celebrate when we found out we were expecting our first baby. It was the first place we ate out after having both of our babies, you hosted many a dinner and book launch party for us. You, Robin, and the entire staff will be missed!
I am also so sorry to hear about this. Feast was such a beautiful restaurant and the food was always fantastic. The stuffed trout was one of y favorite dishes ever. My Mom, who lives in Ft. Lauderdale, always mentions how Feast is her favorite Decatur restaurant and how she couldn’t wait to get back there. Teri, our thoughts are with you.
Nooooooo! Feast is my favorite Decatur restaurant! I’m so sad, but I completely understand Teri’s situation. Times are tough for everyone and I’m sure that makes it doubly difficult to keep a restaurant going when eating out is one of the first budgetary areas in which people try to cut back. Teri, we all wish you the best of luck both in your cancer treatment and in your future endeavors. We will miss Feast very much, but remember it fondly.
Holding you and your staff in the light, Teri.
+1….and looking forward to your next venture.
My wife and I are so very sorry to hear of Feast’s closing. Feast was the scene back in October of 2005 of our wedding dinner feast with loved ones in attendance. Feast made the event a very very special occasion which we will remember fondly always. Teri, you are one fine person and restauranteur. Thank you for being part of what makes Decatur a great place to live.
Goodbye Feast, our favorite restaurant! The place we celebrated all of our anniversaries and had so much fun.
You and Robin and the staff always made us so welcome. We are going to miss you all!
We know you’ll get through this, and get up to more mischief in the future. xx
So sorry to hear this. My sweetie and I had our first date at Feast a few years ago. It’s always been a special place for us. Teri is a delightful, warm-hearted person, and I always thought that came through beautifully in the food. Teri, we’re pulling for you. Thank you for everything you’ve done for Decatur over the years!
I really hate to read this. Feast has always been one of our “go to” places. Great service and food. Plus always liked sitting in front of the wood burning stove. Best of luck Teri and hoping for a speedy recovery. I’m guessing we’ll see you again soon!
Good luck in your battle against cancer. My mother is on the verge of losing hers. It’s a hell of fight.
My wife and I shared an anniversary with Feast (June 25th — albeit many years prior to when Feast opened 2005) and we often celebrated there. We’ll miss it terribly, but health is an obvious priority. Teri, you’re in our thoughts and prayers.
Terri: Wishing that your health comes back completely….so sorry that you are going thru this a 2nd time. I’ve had many a good meal and time at Feast and am sad to read that it’s closing. Food and service was always wonderful!! Will keep you in my prayers!
Ditto to all the wonderful experiences I’ve had at Feast – dates with my husband, dinner with friends, Mother’s Day brunch (never missed one since 2006), baby showers. Thanks so much for being such a special place in Decatur. Best of luck – you have the love of a community behind you.
It’s been such a pleasure to work with Teri and Robin for the past few years, keeping the Feast website and Facebook up to date. I always had my camera with me while enjoying the holiday brunches, wine dinners, Thursday evening’s live jazz, Saturday nights with the Back Yardbirds, etc.
The link below will take you to a book (in progress) I’m putting
together as a Feast memento for Teri. Additional pages are planned.

If you have any memories or photos you would like to be included in
the book. Please email them to me by next Wednesday, Feb 29th.

Once Teri’s Cancer treatments are over, she will really be able to focus her laser beam energy on the catering business that she is already planning.
We know it will be a success, once Teri has ‘the bit between her teeth’, there’s just no holding her back!
Feast will be missed but never forgotten.
