More Details on New Decatur Loose Tea Shop, “Cozee Tea’s”
Decatur Metro | December 9, 2011Lots of folks have been clamoring for some more info on the new loose tea shop that was reported to be opening in the old “Wild Seed” spot along East Ponce de Leon Ave. Marla just gave us the name – Cozee Tea’s – and that’s all we needed! Their website is already up and humming. Here’s the summary from the “About Us” page…
New to the downtown Decatur area, encompassing that home away from home feel consumers look for, CozeeTea’s is the new hub for comfort, relaxation, and professionalism. This family owned establishment, started by Leigh Canada, who has over 27 years of corporate experience, is sure to be your new sip and socialize spot. The ambiance, with its warm colors and vintage styles, is inviting to people of all ages and backgrounds. The wide selection includes something for every taste bud. The teas are also prepared in numerous ways including, hot, cold, smoothies, latte’s and bubble, which means there is always a perfect cup with your name on it.
Projected opening?
Projected opening is mid January. I am hoping for construction to begin soon
AWESOME. I’m really excited for you guys to open!
Hopefully not on the Decatur Diner Opening Schedule. I want my tea now.
I need an explanation for the apostrophe before I can go there. I will never be able to enjoy my tea if sloppy punctuation is staring me in the face.
+ one million for sloppy punctuation!
(make that explaining sloppy punctuation…hit send before i could proofread…)
I am hoping that Cozee Tea is the name of the proprietor. That would make the punctuation work. Like Cozy Morley’s place. If not, I hope they have time to change the sign, their stationery, their trademark, etc.
As well as the time to change the reference to “latte’s” on the menu.
Please excuse the apostrophes…..they are being corrected
Welcome to Decatur Metro where we have more helpful people that you can shake a stick at! :0) Cozee Teas will be a wonderfully perfect addition to downtown, and I’m really looking forward to nestling in and enjoying my first cup of tea!
Thanks….I was happy to see that the tea room was even mentioned….love to see the buzz is out there. I am looking forward to sharing teas with all. The website is still under construction and will be updated as the need arises. So I don’t mind input…
Welcome to Decatur! Happy to see you’ll have some organic teas. I’m looking forward to trying organic Early Grey Cream! p.s. Since you asked us to note typos on the website. . .” Earl Grey Cream – organic ingreadients” (ingredients needs to lose the “a”).
When will you be opening?
Sorry–just saw you said opening around January.
thanks for extra set up eyes ….getting the “a” removed
I bet there will be a cute story behind the name. Lands’ End first catalog included the typo and, since it was so well-received, the company decided to keep it for good luck!
As for the apostrophe in latte’s, it might have been used as an accent, but I don’t think there should be an accent on the “e”.
I love everyone who commented above me about the apostrophes. They bug me too. HOWEVER, the fact that this shop is going to offer bubble tea almost makes me want to look the other way and say they can use whatever punctuation they like. Or something.
In all seriousness, the description is reminding me of a cute little shop called O-Cha Tea Bar in Greenville, SC, that I frequent when I’m there. That shop has light snacks, some simple sandwiches, and then hot and cold teas including my beloved bubble tea with tapioca. I am really hoping that is what is going to happen here too.
Bubble tea! Bubble tea! Bubble tea! WHIPPEEEE! Oh, and a nice fresh scone or two would be lovely, as well…looking forward to the opening.
LOVE bubble tea, and very excited to have access to it within walking distance. HOWEVER, bubble tea is very easy to screw up, with the main culprits being improperly cooked tapioca pearls (too hard or too soft) and the use of powdered flavorings. Let’s hope Cozee Tea can avoid these pitfalls!
True– the bubbles shouldn’t be crunchy! Here’s hopin’…
Ya know, Crunchy Bubbles would have been a great name for a crappy 80’s band…
Heh– true. But the 80’s did have “Buggles”, which is at least close…who could forget “Video Killed the Radio Star”???
i have never tried bubble tea but with all the chatter about it i can’t wait to get myself some!
Fair warning: It’s an acquired taste…or more accurately, texture.
I also have never tried bubble tea. I knew it was big in Oregon and elsewhere on the left coast. But I was not sure what it is. Looked it up on the Goggle. Now I know and I am excited to try Bubble Tea.
Bubble tea: Is that supposed to be hot or cold?
I tried bubble iced tea at Sun-O in the shopping plaza with Bicycle South. (Is Sun-O still there?) Bubble tea was, well, not bad but I didn’t really see the point of great big tapioca pearls floating in a sweet, milky iced tea. Tapioca pearls are tasteless. The little ones are almost unnoticeable and the large ones are good for throwing at one’s elementary school classmates. (They either bounce or stick to the walls.) The point of tapioca in a pudding is that it’s a thickener and binder. What’s the point in cold iced tea?
So is there also a hot version? For some reason, that makes more sense to me. Maybe the hot liquid makes the pearls softer and more food-like, less easy to throw?
Let me see if I can answer some of the questions in regard to bubble tea…Most bubble teas are made with ice and either can be served on ice or without. You shake the bubble tea mixture prior to adding the pearls with ice so it froths…then pour so if you want it on ice you very well can. The basis of MY bubble teas will be with green or black tea (choice of consumer). If fruit is part of the recipe then it will be added via blender and than shaken and poured. I won’t be using powders as I personally think powders add a funny taste to anything. So milk will be used as part of the liquid and frozen or pureed fruit will be basis for the flavor. I will also make my own sweetner which will be used to store the pearls and also sweeten the drinks. As for the topica pearls…they have to be cooked to the right consistency, store appropriately and also used in a timely manner to avoid the too soft or too crunchy texture. …I hope this helps some
Yeah, uh, I’m lining up now… SO excited for walking distance bubble tea from someone who knows what she’s doing! I have been dreaming of a (bubble) tea shop in Decatur since I moved here! And as a fan of loose tea/hot tea/tea tea tea…I just can’t stop commenting on this page, basically.
(@AtHomeInDecatur, the tapicoa is more about texture, at least to me, than additional flavor. And you *can* have bubble tea without the tapioca. I also like the occasional coconut jelly in my bubble tea…hint hint… I don’t have a problem with bubble tea made from powder, but I am excited to have a fresh option as well.)
