Emory Students/Alums Opening Bar on Clairmont Road
Decatur Metro | April 15, 2011From the Emory Wheel…
Several Emory students and alumni will open The Nest, a new bar and restaurant located near campus, which is set to launch during the week of April 25.
The establishment will take the place of Selam Lounge and is located across from Gables Montclair near the intersection of North Decatur and Clairmont Roads. It will include a restaurant with classic American food and a bar on the top floor — called “The Nest” — and dance area dubbed “The Rabbit Hole,” which will occupy the main level of the restaurant. Chief Developer of The Nest Kevin Wu (’10B) described the atmosphere of the Nest as representative of the standard college vibe. He compared it to bars like the Ivy in Buckhead.
cool
I will certainly list this in the “places to avoid going…ever” category.
haha i was being nice, but i can’t disagree with you, this goes in the “also avoid days any place advertise free food for kids” bin
Sounds like fun to me. What’s your objection, specifically?
I’ll checkout the food during the day but i’m too old to dance and hang around 18-21yr olds

Local guys going out on a limb and opening their own restaurant and bar in a neighborhood they believe in… I don’t see the harm in giving it a try. I hope it turns out great!
Hey, don’t get me wrong, I will always root for a new business to do well. Especially one that may keep those characters out of Downtown Decatur!
Man, you don’t know the characters of the people opening this bar. I really dislike that people on this blog seem to LOVE to rip strangers apart. I hope the owner of this bar invite you over to meet themawns treat you to a beer. Please do report back just how horrible they are! We cannot wait to hear the report.
I was not at all referring to the owners, I was referring to their target demographic.
They are/were all Emory students. May have been funny the first time you said something but the second and third times, just not necessary. Not trying to take out all my frustrations on you but after all the mudslinging about the diner, the guy at Renfroe who hasn’t even started his new position at DHS yet, the deli insanity, the supposed people from outside the city limits who park on the grass at the park, the owner of the empty spot in Oakhurst and on and on and on, it gets tiresome.
I really dislike that people on this blog seem to LOVE to rip strangers apart.

Huh, seems like you are doing just that to me. Also, I was not trying to be funny. In my experiences around large groups of Emory students, I have found the experience lacking. This is my opinion, I’m sure you have yours. Let’s respect the fact that everyone has different opinions.
I’m not ripping you apart. You expressed your negative opinion about Emory students three times. I expressed my opinion that I dislike when people bash on people multiple times on this blog — it makes for crappy reading.
I didn’t say, “Keep that Walrus character out of downtown Decatur!” but I now that I am thinking about it…
Oops. iPhone gone haywire: owners, them, and
Hi All,
I’m one of the partners in The Nest (Kevin Wu mentioned in the article). I just wanted to comment on here and let you all know how excited we are to open and start serving the neighborhood! Over the past 5 years I have become a huge proponent and advocate of our neighborhood and while I definitely understand the apprehension about it being an Emory-heavy venue bar, I definitely want to remind everyone that this article was scraped from The Emory Wheel, and I was interviewed by an Emory reporter, and was written for the Emory community.
We are going to be a neighborhood bar/restaurant foremost where everyone will be able to feel comfortable. While there may be dance music playing downstairs on the weekends, our bar will be showing all our Braves, Falcons, Hawks, Tech, and UGA games and will be a great place to come grab a beer and enjoy the gorgeous Atlanta weather on our patio this summer.
For those of you who are skeptical about The Nest and how we fit into the neighborhood, we would really appreciate you coming down; grabbing a beer and trying our food before you make any judgments. Hopefully you will find yourself pleasantly surprised.
Please just ask for Kevin, I’m an Asian guy in my early 20’s. I’d love to meet you and get to know more people in the area! After all, Emory students come and go and you guys are here for much longer than just a few years

Welcome, Kevin!!
I look forward to meeting you and checking out the bar.
Best of luck.
Thanks, Veg!
Looking forward to meeting you
So glad to see more fun and relaxed restaurants/bars in the Emory area (been lacking for a while). Best of luck, Kevin! You will be seeing me this summer.
