Being arts-challenged, I rarely want to comment on the Eye on the Street photos but this one grabbed me. I feel like I’m sitting on the tracks myself and feel just a little thrill of danger–it looks clear ahead, but what about behind me?! Where was this taken?
I really like the bleak, Dr. Zhivago, track to Varishnikov look of the picture.
This is the time of year to rent that movie if you’ve never seen it. Stock up
on vodka, champagne, blini and caviar. Build a fire, pull up some rugs, especially furry ones.
Spend an evening with great actors: Omar Sharif, Julie Christie, and the lovely Geraldine Chaplin (she must have been a teenager when she made this.) Also, Rod Steiger, Alec Guiness, Tom Courtney, Ralph Richardson, and Klaus Kinski in a small key role.
Screenplay by Robert Bolt, novel by Boris Pasternak. Directed by David Lean.
Yum, yum, yum, I think I just talked myself into it. Thanks for the photo, Sheila.
every time i look at this i think of josh turner’s song, “long black train”..
